Well, the system that Bicarnok refers to is largely a driving force behind that change, individual bankers perhaps not. But the ability to produce for international markets, and generate capital for worthy endeavors is a huge, huge, huge part of the advancements we humans experienced over the last 100s of years.
Yep, the race to get rich is the engine for development.
If you were to invade the earth and enslave people, they would revolt and show little moral. If you kill them all you have to do the work yourself and have no savages to worship you.
But if you bring in a monatary system which, in a short ammount of time, makes the inhabitants addicted to money. The carrot and stick approach. They are too preocuppied with looking after their own interests, ie running the race to get rich, they won´t notice who is behind the system and how corrupt it is, after all you have to have lots of people on the bottom of the see saw to keep the few at the top.
And you can bet the inventors of the system are sitting on the top🙂
The question would be, what would aliens want from us or the planet?
Ok it´s a nice place,, for us. But Aliens would be different and might not appreciate beaches and cocktails like most of us do.
