Worst than Dragon Wars? you are talking out of your arse big time. And there was nothing wrong with the acting, it wasn't amazing but it was NOT shit. The story was nothing new but it was nice and simple for the film and the film is wonderfully shot, some nice stand out scenes.
It's a decent science fiction film but not a classic like a lot of previews made it out to be, if you are expecting some fast paced film(District 9 type action) then you will probably be very disappointed.
maybe its just because of glare, but that looked too damn dark.
couldn't even see the last shot.
It must have been the quality you saw, saw everything fine and dandy on the film version I watched and the dark parts of the film were not hard to watch at all, could see everything that was suppose to be seen.
I recommend the low budget film Monsters. See it on the cinema screen. Nicely shot, a good music score, and two leads who are not annoying.
It could have had some more money spent on the special effects, the interior scenes of the petrol station is one place where it could have benefited.
It's even more impressive that it apparently cost around $400,000/$500,000 to make, and a debut film from the film maker.
But yeah, it's nothing like District 9, and reminded me of a The Mist/Jurrasic Park mix. And yes it has a big creature like in Cloverfield, but then, Cloverfield isn't exactly original either...
Did you guys who have seen it watch it on video on demand then?
You saw them at the very start, partly during one scene, then in various scenes(but dead), then a type of offspring in another scene, and you saw them for quite a long time during most of the end sequence, in what was probably one of the standout and beautiful scenes.
Just because you found it boring and slow, doesn't mean it's shit.
It might be different for me, I went into seeing it knowing that it was a slow film where nothing much happens, I wasn't expecting some big action fest.
Here is a nice little bit of a review I found on it:
However, rest assured the story is as involving as it is surprising, subverting genre expectations at every turn to create something utterly unique and original.
Indeed, the only criticism one can aim at the narrative is that at times it's a little slow, with some scenes lasting too long and outstaying their welcome towards the film's end.
McNairy and Able shine, however, creating believable characters who embark on a dangerous journey physically, and a more tender and touching one emotionally. For the most part a two-hander, much of their dialogue is improvised, and it's a testament to the talents of these two actors that it always rings true.
But it's writer-director Gareth Edwards who deserves the most praise. Shooting guerrilla-style on a shoe-string budget, he's crafted a wholly original feature that stays with you long after the credits have rolled. Edwards was also responsible for production design, but it's his special effects work that truly impresses. Created on a laptop over the course of six months, the monsters in question are something to behold -- bioluminescent things of beauty that look like they come from a far more expensive movie.
And it's not just the monsters -- clever effects work is littered throughout the movie, enabling him to tell this most intimate of stories on the largest possible scale. The result is a creature feature unlike any other, and one that has announced the arrival of an exciting new talent in the shape of this young writer-director.
Also another interesting review here which fits perfectly with what some have said on here:

That's a BIG statement. In my opinion, "Dragon Wars" is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and I say that with 100% honesty.
It is an idiotic statement to be frank. 😛 As I said, he is talking out of his arse.
The aliens look like
Spoiler:It's nicely designed and different to the usual 'alien', it's more like nature and how something that we brought back via bacteria might just mutate into.
massive squid but with spider like legs that can move them around, but in the dark they glow a fantastic red colour
This is more exiting than this movie.
