Yeah, no. Not what happened.
Journey Into Mystery with The Mighty Thor Issue #118
"To Kill a Thunder God" -- "Introducing: the Indestructible Destroyer."

Page 3, panel 4. The Hunter's thoughts (upon spying an unsuspecting Thor swinging his hammer, about to take off):
"Thor!! The greatest prize of all to any hunter. I wouldn't dare risk a mere bullet on such a target--but this anesthetic shell, which can instantly stop a herd of elephants, may put him to sleep."
Page 3, panel 5. Narration: And so, the mighty Thor is temporarily felled by the one weapon which his indescribable strength is useless against--a simple, fast-acting, sleeping-gas shell!
Pictured: Thor dropping without so much as an utterence and out like a light in panel 6.

What's not clear is whether or not the shell actually pierced Thor's skin, as there is no spray of gas to suggest it exploded against him, but neither is a wound indicated. The only thing that is clear is that Thor was literally one-shotted by a hunter with a rifle, albeit with a very powerful chemical kick.

considering that later on in the very same issue thor was going blow for blow with the destroyer without even a scratch to show for it, that musta been some seriously potent anesthetic gas. none

I wonder what the hunter was planning on shooting to begin with, since he hadn't gone out looking for Thor.

Regarding the fight: Thor was getting his arse kicked. The only blow he landed was a hammer throw, which completely unfazed the Destroyer, which then proceded to lift it and use it against Thor. Thor spends the next few pages dodging and evading--good examples of close-quarters agility, actually--but likely why he showed nary a scratch.

Bump.

IIRC...in the Thor comic which intro'd the Asgardian Destroyer, SA Thor was taken down by a single bullet--a tranquilizer bullet at that--by a hunter in the underbrush who later found and activated the Destroyer.

SA Superman ftw.

Thats that whole stupid backward durability thing. I wouldn't give Superman the win based on that reason, unless Supes is gna start firing at him with a machine gun.

Anyway Thor's only hope in this fight is magical based attacks. Physically SA Supes kills him.
