Well to be fair, out of most characters in RE6, Chris, even with all his boulder punching strength, felt the most vulnerable in a way, whether it be due to his earlier amnesia, having his buttons pushed too easily by Carla, or losing Piers in the end. Kind of unexpected considering his campaign was marketed to be on the most action side of the game. Other than that though I agree on the first bit. Bring back those others you mentioned.Helena didn't feel like she was unstoppable either (considering she wasn't the one controlling a vehicle and crashing every one of them and still lived). Kind of a rookie actually, but yeah. Wouldn't mind if they did that with Sherry either, with no Jake in the picture.
Yeah... That's why I was hoping for a reboot more than anything, aside from it being the only way to have other favorites like Wesker back. Maybe make him and Jake actually know each other in said reboot instead of being a dead-beat dad that Jake never knew.
If they did a reboot, I'd prefer they just toss Jake all together, or drastically change him to make his character more likable and vulnerable. He should have been a more well off, genius/ivy league
kid with glasses type character to mirror Wesker (I also kind of doubt Wesker is the kind of guy who would let his offspring be anything short of perfect, with how he considered himself and his DNA to be so superior). Jake came off as kind of simple in the game. The potential character arc of him coming to terms with Wesker being his father and being at odds with every protagonist in the series would have made a good story and would have contributed to the feeling of isolation that should be in all survival horror games (IMO). They dropped the ball on that in RE6. Even his eventual confrontation with Chris was handled horribly.
Wesker needs to be smarter and more in control too. Previous games made Wesker feel like he was a genius with some big master plan, always pulling all the strings. Its not that I didn't like him in RE5 (I thought he was awesome), but they made him kind of typical. If they rebooted, they should toss out powers all together. Super powers have no place in survival horror. Wesker got a pass because he's the villain at least, but I would have just preferred him to be a scientific and tactical genius who is really skilled with guns and hand to hand (kind of like how he was pre-powers). I would still be able to buy him taking out Chris and Jill and the same time in a confrontation.
If they reboot, they should just start over at Raccoon City. Everyone is still in their rookie stages learning the ropes. Make a bunch of newer, more grotesque monsters and get the atmosphere perfect. Make Raccoon City more of a post-apocalyptic modern day metropolis
That or just make it a legit restart with new characters and new ideas. If they were going to do that though, they would have to bring in some horror experts to really lend to the game, because even leons campaign was lacking in RE6.
