Resident Evil 6

Sucks.

Finished Chris's campaign. I liked it. I don't know why people say its the lamest. I agree with Ridley, the crawling gameplay was much better executed in this campaign. Makes one wonder why didn't they just use the same. Leon looked so fkn awkward.

Also Piers >>>>>>> Helena. Helena stuck me like the kind of ***** who'd stab you with the virus for a chance to live lol. Exaggerating much, but yeah. Helena pissed me off. Piers on the other hand was excellent. Constantly backing up Chris. Keeping him in shape, reminding him of what is really important and trying to keep him sane. Sucked seeing him go, Chris's best soldier bar none.

I must say i am liking the classic RE throwbacks such as the giant snake boss fight, raccoon cityesque setup(gunshop, graveyard, sewers included) plus a rookie cop. Adding a layer of nostalgia that strengthens my bond with the game by manipulating me lol. Reminds me of all the time I've invested in the franchise. Absolutely love having Leon and Chris interact in the same campaign. Always wanted that. Wonder if we might get a full-blown Fast Fivesque'd assemble cast of every main RE character with 8 campaigns lol.

Gotta say for being such out of this world super heroes(Leon/Chris) they do a piss poor job of actually saving people lol.

I think people generally say Chris's campaign is the lamest or worst because it had the least horror and most action (can see where they're coming from there at least, not that it made it bad like RE5's main campaign was for the most part IMO). Or maybe many just didn't like the whole amnesia/drunken rage/vengeance thing Chris was going through, but sometimes that's necessary for character development. Glad you liked the campaign though.

I liked Helena to an extent, but yeah. She's no Piers of course, and couldn't agree more on the rest. 👆

Surprised the classic RE throwbacks in the game weren't really mentioned much till now. One of my favorites was the entering numbers to open some doors in Leon's chapter 2, even though they made it a lot easier to find the numbers you had to punch in compared to older games. And the rookie cop, yeah. Was kinda sad at first that he died with the other survivors in that bus, just because Leon could relate to him and all.
Heh, maybe, but I could see a resident reboot being in order before they do a sequel with that many campaigns again.

Yeah... Hope that's not a sign of them getting old, but eh.

Dayum Dat Chapter 3 Sherry costume.

My how she has grown. droolio

Felt bad because I thought she was still illegal, but turns out she was much closer to my age when RE2 came out. Makes me lol how small and childish she looked in RE6. She looked and acted like an effin' 6 year old. Ah well. At least puberty and the Gvirus worked their magic.

Ada is still #1 solely in looks and outfits, but damn she is being such a *****.

Pic?

Lol Peirs really kinda look like a younger Chris.....

R.I.P Piers...

Yeah, was surprised myself when I found out she was 26 in RE6 from reading one of her bios.

You mean the Ada in the red shirt and black pants, or the one in the blue dress and red scarf? (would address the two differently, but I don't know how far you are right now, so I won't spoil it)

That reminds me, did anyone notice that Billy in the Expendables 2 (young sniper guy who gets stabbed by a kick to a knife in the heart by Van Damme) looks exactly like Piers? He should play Piers if there's another live action RE. Oh who am I kidding, there will be.

Both. I just started Ada's campaign. Hope they explain the c-virus and all the shit that has not been explained. I noticed the 2 Adas. She kept having different clothes whenever I saw her in china. Still thanks for trying not to spoil anything. I appreciate it.

I was actually surprised at how well I was able to recreate him.

Finally got around to finishing Ada's campaign.

Did they ever reveal how the C-Virus was developed?

Resident Evil to Return to its Horror Roots For Next Game

As long as they don't bring back the old control scheme, I'm cool with anything.

So no reboot but an RE7? Dammit.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to see the game returning to survival horror and actually feeling helpless. Leon flips through lasers, Chris punches boulders off cliffs, Jill is basically Alice without the telekinesis and is significantly more likable, Adas the same and always has been, Sherry has a healing factor, and now we have to son of Wesker. I love all those characters (except Jake), but they need to be left alone for a while. Bring back Claire, Rebecca, or Billy and keep them grounded.

I also wouldn't mind a game following Sherry. She may have that healing factor, but she still felt like she wasn't unstoppable. Just keep the healing factor as an explanation as to why she cant get infected and keep her grounded.

It's also hard to see the game getting more epic after the worldwide outbreak in RE6. Thats why they just need to focus completely on story and character development instead of set pieces, kind of like Last of Us when compared to Uncharted.

Well to be fair, out of most characters in RE6, Chris, even with all his boulder punching strength, felt the most vulnerable in a way, whether it be due to his earlier amnesia, having his buttons pushed too easily by Carla, or losing Piers in the end. Kind of unexpected considering his campaign was marketed to be on the most action side of the game. Other than that though I agree on the first bit. Bring back those others you mentioned.

Helena didn't feel like she was unstoppable either (considering she wasn't the one controlling a vehicle and crashing every one of them and still lived). Kind of a rookie actually, but yeah. Wouldn't mind if they did that with Sherry either, with no Jake in the picture.

Yeah... That's why I was hoping for a reboot more than anything, aside from it being the only way to have other favorites like Wesker back. Maybe make him and Jake actually know each other in said reboot instead of being a dead-beat dad that Jake never knew.

If they did a reboot, I'd prefer they just toss Jake all together, or drastically change him to make his character more likable and vulnerable. He should have been a more well off, genius/ivy league kid with glasses type character to mirror Wesker (I also kind of doubt Wesker is the kind of guy who would let his offspring be anything short of perfect, with how he considered himself and his DNA to be so superior). Jake came off as kind of simple in the game. The potential character arc of him coming to terms with Wesker being his father and being at odds with every protagonist in the series would have made a good story and would have contributed to the feeling of isolation that should be in all survival horror games (IMO). They dropped the ball on that in RE6. Even his eventual confrontation with Chris was handled horribly.

Wesker needs to be smarter and more in control too. Previous games made Wesker feel like he was a genius with some big master plan, always pulling all the strings. Its not that I didn't like him in RE5 (I thought he was awesome), but they made him kind of typical. If they rebooted, they should toss out powers all together. Super powers have no place in survival horror. Wesker got a pass because he's the villain at least, but I would have just preferred him to be a scientific and tactical genius who is really skilled with guns and hand to hand (kind of like how he was pre-powers). I would still be able to buy him taking out Chris and Jill and the same time in a confrontation.

If they reboot, they should just start over at Raccoon City. Everyone is still in their rookie stages learning the ropes. Make a bunch of newer, more grotesque monsters and get the atmosphere perfect. Make Raccoon City more of a post-apocalyptic modern day metropolis

That or just make it a legit restart with new characters and new ideas. If they were going to do that though, they would have to bring in some horror experts to really lend to the game, because even leons campaign was lacking in RE6.

I'm with that

they don't have to go 100% all the way like how 1-3 was set up as.

Absolutely.

If they are going to do a reboot, let's have them recreate the Raccoon City story line from scratch with the updated control scheme.

You can always tell when a series didn't have the intention to be series . One of the reasons why Mass Effect is so good is because they had that intention.

I'm still going to get RE6 once it gets pretty cheap.

This is amusing considering that I feel Resident Evil 6 has the best replay value of any RE game to date. The Mercs mode in particular is very fun and in 4-6 I played that extensively. But replaying the older titles is not at all fun. The REmake is about the only one that gets a pass, and that's because it was designed deliberately to screw with veterans of the series.

The idea of having more danger and suspense, or more horror is great in theory, but to implement it is tricky. You either dial up the monsters or dial down the heroes. I don't see the former being a winning move, since they dialed up baddies in 6. Some of the bosses you fight numerous times.

A reboot I would not be in favor of, since 15 years of lore would go down the toilet.
