Resident Evil 6

Eh, that 15 years of lore needs a reboot and a clear direction.

There was no way Capcom fleshed out a story in the original game so the idea that it needs to keep on following the story is crazy.

I wouldn't mind a complete reboot with rehashed story. It would make more sense than keep on doing what they are doing.

The funny thing is that I'm enjoying RE6 (playing it right now). While it's not as good as a RE4, at least it feels a bit different than RE4/RE5.

Haven't played this one since it came out and even then i only finished Leon's Campaign

got sidetracked by better things then i guess

as for the the reboot they can always do something new while appeasing the hardcore fans, Like what they did with Deus EX: Human Revolution and even the upcoming Thief game from the looks of things

This is amusing considering that I feel Resident Evil 6 has the best replay value of any RE game to date. The Mercs mode in particular is very fun and in 4-6 I played that extensively. But replaying the older titles is not at all fun. The REmake is about the only one that gets a pass, and that's because it was designed deliberately to screw with veterans of the series.

Resident Evil 2 does it for me, I've finished both Scenario's A & B that many times.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was not a reboot.

And uh, as for the hardcore fanbase's opinion on Thief 4... lawl.

Its was a reboot of the franchise

it was something new and also had little things in there that were tied to the first one

Its still Garret from what i've seen of it

for ****s sake he even has his robotic eye.

It was a late sequel. Calm down.

As for Garret, can't really comment, as I've only just started the first Thief.

No....it was a reboot of the franchise even the dev's pretty much say it

Deus Ex: Human Revolution director Jean-Francois Dugas has told Gamasutra the game is a “reboot of the franchise.”

and that was from 2010.

Actually meant a prequel but whatever.

The devs are wrong. 👆

🙄

What else is new coming from the likes of yourself.

There should be a question mark at the end of that sentence.

A reboot is probably in order for RE series.

Just not a complete one, Keep some of the plot that's happened.

Maybe, I don't know. A reboot doesn't necessarily have to changed everything.

RE4 was a great game because it changed the formula and it had nothing to do with the series.

Well it sorta did, Just not all that stuff that happened at Raccoon City because Wesker & Ada were in the 4th game.

You make a good point here. RE4 was very awesome, it changed things up for the better, and it was pretty much unrelated to the greater RE plot until 5 (which built on the Plagas). Rehash reboot I might support, so long as some of the established characters are not necessarily changed. The personalities of Claire, Leon, Chris, etc. are pretty well established, and it would be a bad thing if they were altered beyond recognition. Also, bring back Billy Coen, ffs.

And Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a prequel, not a reboot.

I guess I don't like the characters as much as other do. I always felt they were kind of generic. All of them kind of melt together.

Which is odd, considering they are all very different and some (such as Chris, Leon, and Jill) develop in vastly different ways. It helps to have played the entire main games of the series as well as having seen Degeneration and Damnation as well, giving some perspective or lore where it may not immediately be obvious with a limited viewpoint.

I agree with this. Billy, Rebecca, Claire, Leon, Jill, Barry, Chris, Ada, Wesker, and Sherry all stand out to me as unique and likable characters. Everyone else in the series such as Jake, Sheva, and Simmons are pretty unlikable though. So, basically any new characters from 5 or 6. Before that though, all the characters were great.

I didn't think Jake was that bad. He also gets some development in the lore and hidden files, including those exclusive to RE.net. Plus Troy Baker is a good voice actor, lending him some likeability. Sheva was alright. Simmons though, is pretty much a disposable badguy, so we're not supposed to like him. We didn't like Alfred Ashford either.

No one said it was a full on reboot

just a reboot of the franchise, Since the franchise hadn't been touched for 6 years before Human revolution came along.
