King Kandy's Super Tourney!

FTL speedblitz is a physical attack. It can be defended from in a variety of ways (comparable speed, great durability, anyone with intangibility powers), and these are powers that are in no way unusual. People to be able to bring large physical strength and speed to survive isn't unreasonable. The expectation that people should need plant-manipulating powers to survive IS unreasonable, there is unlikely to even be such a character besides the one inducing the growth to begin with.

so would power cosmic also be banned?

just a note, I'm not trying to be difficult or anything, just trying to clarify. I might be focusing too much on the writ of the rules, but it is what I do...

No, though certain uses of it may be.

cool

I'm sure I'll come up with something else, lol 🙂

Energy manip. ftw so far! I can't wait to see the arbitrary scan wars as I have to decide who absorbs whom.

your point proves it though

since so few people move at FTL, it inherently becomes undefensible

the important point being that, KK said my "grow spores" move would be illegal. Technically, it is defensible, such as, if a character had non-human anatomy or some other form of plant control, but since it is essentially indefensible, it is illegal

FTL attacks are, pretty much, indefensible

though, speedsters should be allowed to use them to avoid attacks, trasnport people, etc

If FTL attacks are allowed, I should be allowed to thin people's blood

There's a good number of Low Heralds capable of FTL:

Ultra Boy, Makkari, Lightray, Flash (though he's not really Low Herald anymore), Bizarro Superman, and Apollo (I think) to name a few.

Eh, it's fair play. Just keep in mind that if in a specific case energy absorption would entail power copying, it cannot be done.

For this tourny I would opt out, and use magicians as oppose to tech savy or energy manipulators.

Specifically Spawn, and the likes. peaches

I understand. Just an amusing trend so far, and inevitably where a few matches will lead.

Kandy: I'm pretty sure I can assume the answer to this, but, say I draft someone who has the magical power of looking into the future, or if I took Bastion from the most recent X-Froce, who has technology that connects him to the future, can I use this during prep? Obviously I wouldn't be allowed to see my oponents plan or anything, but as an intelligence gathering thing?

EDIT: or, if I select a character who can summon, say, a dragon or whatever, is this allowed? Would the summoned creatures have to be within the low-herald limit?

Future sight during prep is not allowed, because it violates the rule that characters must not know their opponents during prep.

Summoning dragons is fine. There is no technical limit on how powerful the summons/constructs can be, but the ability to easily create over-the-caps constructs would be a factor in deciding if the character himself should be accepted as low herald.

Draft 2:

Begins Sunday
Begins noon pacific time

blast, I'll find a loop-hole somewhere 😛

Do we ever get to find out who drafted whom, and on top of that will we get a re-draft period before the first match?

Here's my plan:

You will not find out who drafted who during drafts. When the first round starts, you will be paired to a random opponent, and prep blind. After that, the teams will be established and in future rounds you will prep w/ knowledge of the opponent.

No redrafts, unless one of your characters was ruled illegal after being drafted.

thats a cool idea 🙂

What about tradings or someone wants to drop a certain character?

Nope. Make sure you've got it right the first time. I may do trading/redrafts, but it will be after round robin if it happens, not during the initial drafts.

So when is the ETA for the first round if any?
