You seem to be misunderstanding me. At no point did I ever say that the entire city was evacuated. You can't evacuate a city in 40 seconds. And at no point was it shown that the entire city was even affected. As I said before, the whole scene took place on one street, with maybe a dozen people actually shown in the area. I don't know how long it would take for a person to escape a city on foot, but they do not need to get out the city to get away from Cell. They could have simply run to a different street or a few blocks away or into a building, and Cell couldn't risk chasing them because Piccolo was coming. Again, I don't know, these are just possibilities. Piccolo likely didn't see anyone because they were hiding from the monster absorbing people in the middle of the street, who knows? I personally find the assumption that Cell was able to absorb a city in 40 seconds to be much crazier than anything I've said.

Again, I'm just going based off of what was shown in the episode I posted. What was shown was a single street, and there was nothing there to indicate more than a single street.

Cell is quite fast, that I do not doubt. However, Cell has consistently displayed the inability to absorb someone in less than 10 seconds, even in situations where he is supposedly rushing. In the scene I linked, Cell absorbed at least two people on screen, while Piccolo was not nearby (in fact, was not in the city yet) and Cell was trying to go as fast as possible to regain his strength. Even when Piccolo began heading towards the city, Cell did not speed up noticeably. You cannot assume that Cell can absorb at super speed when all on screen depictions of absorpsion are of a painfully slow process. Cell was fast enough to get away from Piccolo; nothing more.

No human can hide from a person that can read power levels. It was also mentioned that the city was cleaned.

Piccolo would have known if people were in the city along with tien and cell.

Why would they put the camera in every room and house to prove that cell wiped it clean, its pretty much common sense since we didn't see a soul. Hell, how can an entire city see a small dot like cell because of one scream? Answer this, if you were to stand in the middle of new york and scream out loud, do you think that the entire city will hide in the closet. Do you think everyone could come out on the front porch and see you through the buildings? Even if people fleed, you still would have seen people running inside house etc... in 30 seconds, come on now. All of your possibilities doesn't make sense. I stay in a city... I'm about to go outside and scream just to see if the city I stay in would evacuate.

Just like I told you before... there is nothing suggesting that cell can't absorb at super speed... hell, there isn't nothing suggesting that the people that we seen on panel wasn't absorbed at super speed since we have on panel showings of things being slowed down in dbz so that we can see what is going on.

I just came from outside screaming and one person drove past me looking crazy, another person stuck his head outside of his house telling me to stfu and I'm pretty sure everyone else ignored it. No one ran though and the city I stayed in, no one evacuated or fleed... especially not in 30 seconds. If you know of a person that can flee a city in 30 seconds then I am pretty sure they are super human of some sort.

Can you show me where it was stated that the city was cleaned? In the episode I'm using, the closest thing to that is Tien saying "What a disaster." And I did not mean to imply anyone could actually get away from Cell. I'm simply suggesting that some people might have run while Cell was taking 10 seconds to absorb someone, and Cell didn't follow them because he knew Piccolo was almost there.

Piccolo would have known if people were in the city along with tien and cell.

And Piccolo at no point stated that he didn't sense anyone. All he said was "We're too late." Piccolo says nothing about the city or the people, so there is no reason to assume that they are all gone. People may not have even heard the scream, and were thus still in their homes unaware of anything happening.

Every house? In that scene, it simply panned around the street. The single street. I literally counted 11 people there. I later counted 7 sets of empty clothing, and just one car. That's four missing people. And further, I don't think everyone heard the scream like you're implying I do. If I were to scream in New York while a green creature absorbed people? First, I think it'd be a little more crowded than 11 people. And even if I was heard, I doubt anyone would come outside, because New York is a loud place. Hence, they are all inside and out of sight of the camera. I could go outside right now and my neighborhood would look just as deserted as the street shown. Does that mean they're all dead? No, they're just inside, where I can't see them, just like the camera couldn't see any people in the scene. Just because we can't see anyone, it does not mean they are all dead.

We're essentially saying the same thing. No city will evacuate in 40 seconds because someone screamed. I did not say the city was evacuated. Please stop putting words in my mouth (or post). I am saying that there are 11 people shown, and 7 sets of clothes. I said that maybe 4 people ran away because they saw Cell, and Cell did not chase them because he was avoiding Piccolo.

See, what you're doing now is unreasonable. I mean, it cannot be reasoned. Cell has not shown the ability to absorb at super speed, so you can't assume that he can. To give an example, there is nothing to suggest that Superman can't fight at light speed. Yet you want on panel showings for that, despite there being nothing to suggest he can't do it. All you'd need to do is get an on screen showing of Cell absorbing at super speed. Until you have evidence of super speed absorption, all we have is the slow absorption shown on screen, just like until there's an example of Superman fighting at light speed, all we have is the on panel slow fighting. It's the exact same thing.

And there's no indication that the absorption was done at super speed, as it was shown that several people were watching it happen, and they were moving normally. All the evidence is against Cell in this situation.

Piccolo stated that it was too late because they didn't make it there on time. Before cell and piccolo met cell was absorbing cities worth of people, there was no reason for him to change his routine, he just did it much faster than before.

You can't compare dbz characters and superman... dbz characters consistently show enormous amounts of speed and again, this is a normal thing for them. I don't even know why we are debating this. If goku and frieza can do all of what the did in 5 minutes before planet namek blew up then cell cqan wipe a city clean in 30 seconds. If vegeta and buu can doo all of what they did in less than a minute, I can see cell absorbing a city in 30 seconds.

Piccolo and tien didn't make it in time and the only reason they showed that street was because that was the street piccolo and tien was on. Cell went to another city right after that, he didn't back track... do you want to know why, because he wiped the city clean.

Is that it? Piccolo said they were too late. There was no mention of the city or people. Piccolo simply says that Cell was too fast for him to catch.

I don't really care how fast anyone does anything else. The fact remains that Cell is consistently shown on screen to take 10 seconds or more even when rushing. Nothing else he does will change that on screen absorption time. I wouldn't doubt that Cell is fast enough to kill a city's worth of people in 40 seconds, be he has been explicitly, repeatedly shown to take 10 seconds to absorb someone.

Yes, they only showed the street Piccolo and Tien were on. Based on one street, you can not assume that the same applied to the entire city. Cell went to another city because Piccolo was chasing him. There's no indication that the city was empty except for one street, and that's not nearly enough.

Omg...

In the next episode after that when bulma and the crew got together, didn't piccolo state that he was unable to stop cell from wiping the city clean?

No, but there was a news report on it. Too bad we don't know how much time passes between episodes. Obviously long enough for the news crews to record it, but that's still a rather long time.

i wanna do a really epic avatar state aang thread but cant think of a good adversary...any suggestions

In order to make great battles you would have to use popular characters. How about Anime Ichigo/Piccollo vs Superman/Wonder Woman? Only use average showings for all. Fight would be epic.

Not really 😬

but neither ichigo or piccollo are on their level...it would be an uphill battle for the anime crew
