Zelda, unlike most games, is about the gameplay first. It has a story only to help the player get involved.
It wouldn't make for a very deep story thats for sure.
Obviously a writer would fill in the backstory and inject alot of nuance for the characters and direction in the story.

I'll make this my final reply to your continued posts. This whole thread was not merely jusy talking about the game but how, if the possibility arose that a feature was proposed. How such a writer or production team could turn the meager plotline of the game, expand itinto a feature or series of feature films that are full of backstory and promise of future stories. It's all speculation I know this and most of the posters do know this and some of us enjoy speculating. Take the time to read from the 1st page of this thread and you will see the evolution of how the idea of a feature film sounds more and more exciting, well at least to us Zelda fans. Since you are obviously a Final Fantasy fan, and most likely used to bashing Nintendo or Zelda games in general on game forums this thread was likely an easy target. Just because FF didn't do so well as a feature, does not garner you the right to come in here and throw out your negative diatribes about the game. The game is Zelda but that isn't the mere discussion of the thread. Take the time to read from page 1 and hopefully you will post something positive or none at all. By the way I apologize for my rather harsh statements earlier, caught me at a bad time and assumed that your reply would be something insightful or good news on the way for such a fan. But here's hoping I've not pushed too many buttons, Good day. 😎

I don't mind FF myself but the movie indeed strayed away from the story of the games. It might be a precursor to a Zelda game if someone took the name and took the story etc into territory the game doesn't really fit into. As for the last question, not that I know of. It's all speculation at this point and I concur that it should be just that.

It would make a good film - despite my sarcastic remarks - especially if they based it on the Ocarina Of Time.
Anyone seen Willow? That's a bit like Zelda.
Even LOTR is bit like it - little bloke from little village goes on epic quest to save the world from evil, meets a ton of people along the way.
It would be cool if they did it on an exploration perspective, like most of the movie would be Link being inquisitive and like an investigator - plus those boss battles are dying to be remade on TV.

I also like Lara Croft, I think Angelina Jolie is perfect for Lara.
