Cyclops vs Luke Cage

Yeah, it was clear from the start that he'd lose to Iron Man because the writers are all "haha we're so clever the man in metal beats the master of magnetism" like idiots, but at least he was winning until he was distracted by the Phoenix, and got some good feats like drawing power from suns and shit.

Yeah, the official "winners" in the Vs. mini weren't always the true winners.

Other examples include Parker vs. Colossusnaut (SM won by default) or Hawkeye vs. Archangel (Clint cheated).

Domino vs Rulk.

Jarvis vs Toad.

The last issue doesn't really count.

But if we ignore the lulzcontent nature of it, they were still legit wins, unlike Clint taking a hostage or Rasputin leaving the battlefield.

1. Luke Cage, with ease.

2. Cage, with ease. Danny taught him a thing or two, and Cage actually got the better of him.

Or Cap vs Cyclops (Cyke aimed right at his shield, instead of his exposes parts or widebeaming it)

Or Cap vs Gambit (Because come on.. Gambit should have blown Steve to Kingdom Come)

Here are some massive "Get off my lawn blasts" :

Here he focuses his blast so tight, it punches right through Blob. Imagine that aimed at Luke's head:

Without PIS/CIS, Luke isn't avoiding it either. His blasts move at light speed :

As iffy as I think the whole light speed thing is, even if it's the speed I think it is, Luke Cage isn't ****ing dodging it. Not with any real effectiveness.

Cap vs. Cyclops wasn't one of the fights included in the Vs. mini we're talking about.

Yeah, Cap vs. Gambit was pretty dumb.

It can be bullet speed, that's enough.

Sad thing is, I doubt Scott's beam can even make Luke stfu about Harlem, white privilege, prison life, anal sex, sweet christmas and that time when he beat the living shit out of Dr. Doom because he owed him money.

Bullet speed, or a smidge faster, is generally how I imagine it. Just supplemented by his ridiculous accuracy.

True.

Even Hudlin can't stand the character.

Here it is again, said to be traveling at the speed of light :

And here it is again :

It was said to travel at light speed at least two more times on panel, one was relatively recent too but I can't find the scans. Irregardless that's three scans I posted that said it moves at light speed.

You mean here, where the limiting factor is his servo speed:

I mean, if I hold a torchlight, the beam also travels at lightspeed. But my reactions, and the torchlight mechanism, doesn't move at lightspeed.

Just for Stilt 😍

I think it might be Mimic there though.

Cyclops' beams are lightspeed -- and that's not the first time Wolverine reacts to them in that way, either:

I know of the statements. I still don't buy it because of the sheer amount of times he's missed, when he's supposed to have this amazing aim. And that has been stated far more times on panel than his blasts being the speed of light.

How do you guys reconcile it? That he's limited by the speed at which he turns his head while wearing the visor? The time it takes for his visor to open?

I mean, those are well and good, but they don't account for how his eyes work when he's not wearing his visor, as the direction of his beams isn't as limited by the movement of his head.

I chalk it up to the same plot reasons that everybody with lightspeed eye-beams and ridiculous precisions can be dodged -- plot [i.e. Batman dodging or reacting to Superman's, for the easiest example]. And we can rationalize it with the time it takes him to move his head/eyelids/visors -- but it's hard to do so when the ability is literally "has to look at you".

That's fair enough I suppose. Not that I'm swayed mind you, but I can't be annoyed at you for feeling that way.

I need to check, but hey... hulk is hulk, optic blast is optic blast.

Shortly after that, Wolverine walks towards Cyclops, dodges his beam at point-blank (which could be aim-dodging, but still done at minimal range) and makes Scott crap his pants... even though he just wanted to offer him the Muramasa Blade, same reason why Supes gave the kryptonite ring to Bruce.
