At this point, I'm not sure. There's been little to no sense of geography for this setting, so I'm not sure how far Loran would even be to the other towns and cities revealed thus far, except that it's relatively close to Tarenhold. You could perhaps have some advance scouts of Von Karma coming around to survey the village and decide whether or not to try and claim it in his name, or maybe even Raggo loyalists or resistance members coming to warn of the approach of Von Karma's forces. Either way, it would have to happen in between my next post. Chair is only there to make sure he can keep himself going for his studies.
I think I might expand on the Hybrid guard, since there seems to be a lack of that character type around, though he'll likely be a throwaway character. He could probably interact with any forces that might attempt to reach town.
How about a combination of it? The classic "Guard runs in shouting 'Von karma's forces are incoming si--' as he is struck by an arrow in the back". I still have the desire to get Chair up and moving out of that area. If he's secluded like that, nobody will be able to interact with him. Or perhaps... a Von Karma spy who has infiltrated the town, scouting it out. An Orb user perhaps.. Chair could accidentally bump into them and their orb would fall to the ground. Attention drawn, the Orb user might attack angrily and the Guards step in. While they distract the spy, Chair escapes. That would give him no immediate need to evacuate but he would be aware that Von Karma's forces would soon be upon him.
I think a more subtle approach would work better. Since it seems like a good number of Von Karma's forces are where there rest of the characters are, having a sudden invasion into a random town wouldn't make much sense. Alternatively, instead of the spy bumping into Chair in town, he could try to follow him back to his tower. Whether he should be an orb user or not, I'm not sure. If Chair can defeat him it would mean he gets a new orb, which would be kinda neat.
I just tried to make everything as user friendly a possible while offering up some flavor for the orbs and classes. I had to cut it a bit short at a few points because I was over the character limit. When I get involved, I may get a bit only verbose.
Also, trawling the in-game thread, and I just realized that Chair does not in fact know either Victor's or Naiyao's name. There hadn't been time for introductions at that point. How amusing...
Edit: Whoop. Spoke too soon. He got Victor's name after all.
