Thor(i feel that this movie wont be bad but in the trailer i felt som of the lines were kinda cheesy....example "your big but thors bigger"😉

Maybe you felt it was cheesy because that's not what he actually says.

I believe the line goes, "You're big, fought bigger"

In regards to the movies:

Box Office success (Domestic):

1. Captain America
2. GL
3. X-Men: First Class
4. Thor

Box office success (International)

1. Captain America
2. Thor
3. GL
4. X Men: First Class

Critical Success:

1. X-Men: First Class (based on the reviews so far)
2. Captain America
3. Thor
4. GL

So, X-men: First Class was basically the best comic book movie like, ever.

I think THOR has the opportunity to be the biggest. He's opening first, and won't have serious competition until Memorial Day weekend. Plus he's got an audience built in on the myth, so the film could be biggest of all in the European market. Look at how huge films based on Greek myths & legends have done there the last several years - Troy, 300, Clash Of The Titans.

X-Men has a built in audience, but I wonder if people are tiring of the franchise yet; plus, this one has a retro setting and no Wolverine.

Green Lantern is the biggest unknown to the regular public; but so was Iron Man, once. The filmmakers of this series - together with the filmmakers from THOR - I have the most confidence in. They could be the two best films.

Captain America can take advantage of being late summer, but it will be tougher to get a worldwide audience with this film, out of all the others. Just because of the name alone.

Yeah I dont think any of the others will be able to top Thor after now seeing it..Yeah you can rule out Xmen because thats been done to death with 4 previous movies so the freshness is long gone.

I have seen Thor twice now and it is easily by far the best marvel comicbook movie ever made, hands down,no contest.Till Thor came along,I would say Ironman was easily the best marvel comicbook movie ever made, none of others come close. But after seeing Thor,I have to say Thor is TWICE as good as Ironman is and thats saying a lot since like i said, none of the other marvel comicbook movies even come close to the greatness of Ironman.

Cap and Green lantern are really going to have their work cut out for them big time this summer here is why.

Finally got around to seeing this movie yesterday.I got to say this is easily the best marvel comicbook movie ever made.Hands down,no contest.I would have to give this movie a ranking of 10 out of 10.It was excellent.Exciting from beginning to finish.Heck I would go so far as to say this movie was not only better than Iron Man "whom up to now,I always considered to easily be the best marvel comicbook movie ever made," but twice as good as it was.And thats saying a lot since no other marvel comicbook movie till then or since then, had come close to being as good as Ironman was for me.

For me,what really made this movie exceptional and amazing was the special effects, they were truly amazing and awesome.seeing the world that Thor lives in.Great story and everything to back it up as well.Asgard was amazing and the musical score was just awesome, very touching at times, just like Superman I and II were.

theres some major blockbuster movies out there that have amazing special effects but its so horribly written, you cant take it serious once you get past the special effects. a couple examples are spider-man and star wars, revenge of the sith for example.

Revenge of the sith for instance,I was really impressed with the first time I saw it mainly because of the special effects and really enjoyed it the first time. That was mainly because I was so much dissapointed with its two predecessers before it though.after a a couple more viewings though,I was able to then look past how great the special effects were and realise that its not that great a movie. That I only liked it as much as i did the first time because like i said,it wasnt near as bad as the first two and had some amazing special effects.

Iron man I still enjoyed immensely after multiple viewings so I have no doubt that I will with Thor as well.I plan on seeing this film at least 3 or 4 more times while in the theaters. This movie was so awesome,I cant believe I am saying this but I will probably actually rank it up there with the first two Superman movies and Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Both which are listed in my favorites list.I really enjoyed Ironman a lot, but not enough to where I ranked it as one of my favorites. It was funny when those Shield agents came out and said-Is this one of Starks machines?lol.

Thank god the movie trailers in this film did not let me down and the movie was every bit as great and exciting as the two trailers are on the first post of this thread.I knew from experience not to get too excited about it just because the trailers looked good.I was thinking that Sherlock Holmes for instance, was going to easily be my most favorite movie of the year that year because the trailer was so great.Turned out to be a major dissapointment though and I so much hated that film. This one however came though with flying colors.Captain America is going to have his work cut out for him trying to measure up tp Thor.

The only complaint that I really have about this movie and its very minor is that I was never a Thor fan or anything, but the few times I read a few of his comics and the few times I saw him in cartoons,I dont ever remember him smiling and being friendly like he was in the film.I always remember him being dead serious all the time when he spoke.

You got to assume there will be a sequal and somehow he will find his way back to earth again and be reunited with his lost love.

Just saw X-MEN: First Class it was maybe the best out all the X-MEN movies. The action and story were fairly balanced and being a prequel did not hurt it. Out of the three Marvel movies this year it may be the best. Still have to see Captain America's movie.

Just saw x-men. So far its the superhero movie to beat this year.

Am I the only one who thinks X-men could have used more action?

SPOILERS

You must have missed the part where Emma Frost was tackled to the ground by Xavier and Magneto while in Diamond form.

Or maybe the part where Magneto was somehow cracking her neck with brass and suffocating her (I guess she needs to breathe while diamond in this continuity?).

Or the part where she randomly didn't break out of prison even though the jail didn't have psionic defenses and she showed she could cut through the holding cell with her nail? and god that one liner about war was stupid as hell

ughhhh this movie was pretty good I guess. I just feel heartbroken that January Jones can't act and Emma came off as flat and boring. Also the last ten minutes of the film were kind of rushed. They did too much all at once and they should have held off on Erik becoming Magneto for the second prequel.

sidebar: also I didn't think either Angel or Mystique really had enough motivation to switch sides. Angel was random and undeveloped. Mystique never really settled into a bitter person and I guess boinking Magneto must have made her head spin or something.

and yeah, Professor X should have been played by someone else

Green Lantern is getting critically hammered. We'll have to see how much this affects the box office opening this weekend; it's not tracking for a high number.

It did give me faith again, that a good Marvel movie CAN get made outside the banner of Marvel Studios. Films under them have started to feel more authentic.

Actually with Mystique she felt more comfortable being around Magneto who accepted her as she is, Without wanting her to pretend to look like the rest of the human race.

So far, it looks BLEAK for DC:

Rotten Tomatoes ratings:

1. X-men: First Class = 87%
2. Thor = 77%

Very Distant 3. Green Lantern = 24%

Not out yet: Captain America

Thor is the overall winner right now, with the combination of good reviews and excellent worldwide box office. X-Men: First Class got even better notices, but it's take will be less. It's up to Captian America now; just four weeks away.

And anyone who voted for Green Lantern...

No, you can't take your vote back!

Even if I thought Green Lantern might under perform - I never thought it would be doing THIS badly!

Captain America opens this week; time to see how the red, white and blue translates worldwide.

Word on the grape vine is that Cap is incredibly good. I've been hearing it is even better then the original Iron Man. Gasp!

I'm going to declare Thor the overall winner of the summer, due the the highest box office and excellent critical notices.

X-Men: First Class and Captain America are in a dead heat for second. Though X-Men got perhaps some of the best reviews of the season and did pretty good box office, it seems to be in doubt if another sequel follows in this retro setting. While Cap managed to overcome the loaded symbolism of his costume and name to succeed, and the sequel is already assured (and will have a modern setting to explore with.)

Green Lantern is one of the biggest flops, critically and commercially. Only Cowboys And Aliens may loose more money than GL, but the added pain comes from seeing a franchise being aborted in front of us.

GL is most likely going to get a sequel, last I heard.

WB said the same thing about Superman Returns after it came out, and that movie made close to 400 m and was actually reviewed decently, relative to GL anyway.

I think Ryan is signed on to do another one. From what I hear. They'll probably just reboot it.
