The Thing originally from the 1951 film and then remade by John Carpenter

The Blob from 1958 and it's sequel Beware! The Blob

The fight takes place in New Mexico. Why? Because it just does.

So who wins? CIS AND PIS are off, and both are at their peak. They also have no knowledge about the other creature.

The thing as in the pet Hand from the addams family ?

Depends if The Thing can absorb The Blob's DNA and adapt to its digestive-ness, it likely wins.

Thing's smarter and more adaptable, though not exactly sure how it will destroy The Blob, unless it just absorbs The Blob into nothingness.

Yeah, see that's what i was thinking. Bc there's really only one way that I know of that The Blob can be beat, and it's from the cold. But even then he didn't die.

The deciding factor here, IMO, is whether the Blob's acidic digestive enzymes which dissolve everything they come in contact with can withstand and resist The Thing's ability to absorb, assimilate, and duplicate DNA. If The Blob can not resist, then the Thing will win, but with quite a few burns to show for it. If the Blob can resist, then The Thing is melted and consumed

Well it was debated in another thread that Xenomorph acid blood would work against The Thing... so that means The Blob is the same?

First of all. The Thing can replicated any biological tissue. Like the Xenomorph's skin which can resist the acid. Since the acid for blood is blood, there's no actual reasoning that it could not be assimilated and replicated.

Since the blob is also an organism it is also made up of cells the thing can assimilate and then replicate. I'm betting it would go something like this

The blob and the thing attack each other. The blob consumes some of the thing. But the moment a single cell is assimilated. Game Over for the blob. I'm betting more than just a few cells would be taken over by the thing before the blob can destory everything it is going to be able to.

Note that post was before I saw the prequel. Thing (T Thing) takes it. It would be an epic fight to see (if I was a Cenobite)

Blob no problem. And I doubt the Thing could absorb it's DNA. Too complex.

Based on what?

Thing wins. Blob started out as a little ball of silly putty. The Thing (starting out bigger and being smarter) should be able to handle that.

Now, if we're going with the Blob that rampaged through town, then Blob wins. Bigger, tougher; not much cold in NM.

The Blob just envelopes it prey and devours it. And the Blob wouldn't leave a ounce of flesh behind.

The Blob just envelopes it prey and devours it. And the Blob wouldn't leave a ounce of flesh behind

It takes time to break down and reconstruct a human being, a husky yes. The blob is no where near as complicated as either of those. It's entire mass seems to be made of the same tissue, ergo it would not take as long to replicate the same mass from the blob as it would a human.

Speed doesn't even matter in this case anyway, how the thing works is not at all like what the blob does. The thing takes over an organism on a cellular level. Since the blob doesn't consume itself once one cell has assimilated the blob it wins by default as each cell which does this would be immune to any harm the blob is capable of dealing. It can then continually overtake the blob in this manner, with the blob being as powerless as any other organism to stop it. I credit that the blob could consume much of the things mass while the information on the blobs cells reach the surviving Thing cells, but it wouldn't stand a hope of a chance of finishing the Thing entirely. in the end any mass absorbed by the blob would ultimately become the thing again anyway.

Wow. Excellent evaluation. All the Thing needed to do was put its fingers inside a guys head and it's biology did the rest. It's studying of the man in that very scene showed possibly more of a psychological studying of the human mind. But do we have proof that the Thing could instant take on the celllular structure of anothr being instantly?

If burning the Thing results in destruction you would think being separated and absorbed would also. This is peak Blob and these creatures are going all out! I reckon the Blob's form is more advanced than humans and dogs. The 90's Blob was part of a crystaline race that separates to into a geletanous form to get nutrients. It showed smarts by killing prey through pipes and taps. And showed stealth by hovering over prey on roofs before becoming large enough to be more viscious. But this is 50's Blob.

The question still remains if the Thing can become the Blob fast enough to counter it's overwhelming absorbtion. And it doesn't have alot of time. Especially once the Blob starts to realise the Thing is adapting.
