I've slipped on some and fell while I walking to college one time. I managed to stop most of the fall but it still hurt. That wasn't the worst part though, I slipped on the path next to a parked school bus and I can only imagine the laughter and abuse that was being hurled my way. (I couldn't hear them because the windows were shut, but I imagine they weren't concerned about my safety considering I know what goes on those things)
