Raiders of the Lost Ark as a Popeye comic

Indeed. The use of black and white and stark tones could not prevent the feel good and warm hearted story shining through.

Which was always Lynch's intention, to confuse the viewers by showing him the truth of their bleak lives and demonstrating how love and truth can always shine through... A classic.

The genius of it.

Its use of severed heads convey what it is like to have been beheaded in a quasivaudevill-ian dreams involving pencil factorys where your severed head will be made to make the little erasers on the ends of pencils, each tested by hand.. was a little predictable.

But the warmth of the piece is so endearing that it renders that a moot point at the time you watch it.

And that well compensates for that predictabilty indeed...

But the movie does foreshadow what was to be Lynch's greatest romantic hero: Frank from Blue Velvet.

There reads nothing more heartfelt than a loveletter from Frank.

Love letters straight from my heart...

He really knew how to treat the ladies.
Such grace and smooth style.

And his face mask as a cure to bad breath... so sweet. A man aware of his weaknesses...

They were no doubt seduced by his kind nature and willingness to listen/please.

Girls always like men with a defect... a breathing defect in this case.

It was just his nitrous....fuel for his romanticism.

Indeed... and quite a romantic movie it is. They way he gently deals with a woman who accidentally loses her clothes renders one of the most moving scene in film history.

I agree.

Such tenderness.

Such stark humanity.

Deeply moving... had not seen such a sensitive male character in a movie since Freddy Krueger.

Yes I agree. Especially in the 1st 3 movies.
How he was not picked to replace Santa Claus at xmas is beyond me.

Santa is a psycho... guess he must have a lot of money to keep his spot.

Non peaceable entry in to millions of home full of vulnerable families..
telling people to conform to what his ideological bent describes as good or bad.... demanding mince pies with blackmail menaces...
risking structural failure of the roofs of those houses by being a fat guy on the roof with a small heard of reindeer....

Can't believe they didn't catch this guy yet. he must be in the oil or weapons business.

I concur. There can be no other explanation for how he gets away with his dragging his sack down those chimmleys ever year.
I guess its hard to lift prints and other evidence from the chimmleys and its hard to prosecute on lack of evidence too.
I think its high time we all start leaving traps at the bottom, just above the fireplace.

Sweet.
