Game of the Year award by Spike. Highly deserved. I approve of most of the awards given out.

Arkham City deserved it even moreso.

I have a question for you. If you played Arkham City over 3-4 times, would you ever want to play it again for the 5th time? One thing about the Elder Scrolls games, is their high replay value.

As long as one of the two games won, I would be completely happy. They are both fantastic games.

I find it kind of funny that FistoftheNorth, despite hating Skyrim, for some reason browsed this thread to reply to that.

Just sort of amusing.

I am just saying.

Yes. Arckham City has a high replay value too. There's tons to do in it.

The glitchless action in Arkham City is much better, as well.

Because i'm (still) on a quest to find out what makes this fallout game with swords, so fascinating to you people.

Are you trolling, or just ignorant?

You are aware that Fallout titles numbering 3 and beyond only resemble The Elder Scrolls in gameplay because Bethesda bought the Fallout franchise, and re-tooled the gameplay to be more like The Elder Scrolls, right?

I mean, Fallout 3 and New Vegas are more like The Elder Scrolls with guns, in that that is basically what they are, in gameplay.

neither. fallout 3 was my first bethesda game i've ever played when it came out in 2008 so i'm basing it off that. but i've seen a friend play oblivion at his house and i never realised what the big deal was..

and i think skyrim looked at fallout 3 more than it did oblivion since fallout 3 outsold oblivion.

maybe i'm just not into vastly open world/ rpg games..

Skyrim took things from Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Both are virtually identical aside from actual content and it's universe.

The major difference is the leveling system, which very much resembles Oblivion. It has the Fallout 3 idea of Perks but the act of leveling up is pure Oblivion.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I have always been fascinated by the mythology behind the Elder Scrolls games, and the wide openness of the world that you play in. I'm not crazy about shooters personally. If Fallout was more sword and sorcery then I'd be all over that as well. To be fair though, Dark Souls, and Demon Souls hooked me like a fish as well.

That last sentence basically answers your gripes. I don't care for most shooters...it would be like me wondering what the fuss was about for Gears 3 or CoD.

It has a lot of elements from both games you mention, which isn't surprising. Similar molds.

And you can say that Fallout 3 is Elder Scrolls with guns/nuclear wasteland.

Oh for sure I know what you mean, I have every Fallout game ever published. I'm just a swords and sorcery junkie. I'll never get rid of an Elder Scrolls game, and if I had the choice, of which collection had to go, it would be my Fallout collection. different strokes for different folks right.

I have a buddy who has never played an Elder Scrolls game, but hates them with a passion, but place a Resident Evil game in front of him, and I think he'd pawn his wife until he finished it. He's a hard core shooter fan. My lady knows the deal with me and Skyrim as well ha ha ha.

Considering Fallout 3 was just a progression of Oblivion's system, it is not unnatural for it to resemble Fallout 3 more than Oblivion. The only real difference between current Fallout and Elder Scrolls as a series is the way you level, and the setting/genre.

Calling Skyrim "Fallout with swords" is being disingenuous, when you realise that Fallout 3 only resembles Skyrim to any extent because Fallout 3 was made by Bethesda and retooled to resemble Elder Scrolls in terms of gameplay.

I do like Fallout 3 better than Skyrim.

It's all because I like exploring beat up factories, shopping malls and atmosphere is much more mature.

I also love hacking consoles.

but that soundtrack gets on my freaking nerves lol. Phuck does it ever! 😂 At first it was a novelty, but then, after walking into every damn store and hearing a song about how this chick so loved this guy, and blah blah... or the Sheriff with the heavy lead beating some douche to the trigger. Gawd! ha ha ha.

I know what you mean though. Fallout seemed like one possible future for mankind as we know it, and left me feeling like I missed the biblical rapture or something lol.

Okay.

I wasn't really saying you could not like Fallout 3 more, lol. Though New Vegas is far better than 3, IMHO.

I know you weren't. Just saying.

I find Fallout 3 have much more interesting side quests and areas. Fallout New Vegas was too grand in scope for my liking. It felt disjointed for some reason.

I finished Fallout 3 but I didn't Fallout New Vegas.

New Vegas had overall better writing and RPing options to supplement the setting, IMO.

Actually, that is one regard in which Skyrim is sorely lacking.

Fallout 3 and especially New Vegas have much more varied and rewarding RPing elements than Skyrim.
