There are days it can be difficult to hold to freedom of speech.

I thought it was a good film once you see past the controversy that surrounded it.

I've been thinking of seeing it, but it looks/reads like the only merit it has is 'how disgusting and vile can we make a film', which is pretty lame if that's what it's all about.

This is such a retarded knee jerk response and the movie has been out for ages.

Baby scene NOT the most disturbing scene by far in the movie. Not even close.

Remember, folks, this is coming from a feminist.

I don't really see how that changes her point.

Feminism often does not connect with those of us who are a part of the reality-based community.

^ LOL.

I think she's going to demonstrate her feminism by raping you quite thoroughly over a message board.

Tell me what it feels like. 😐

Feels good, man. But if she decides to "rape" me over that comment, it will merely demonstrate evidence in favor of my statement.

So your point is that you can dismiss her views (even when unrelated) because she's a feminist? This is a type of fallacy.

It is a fallacy, but, in most cases, it also happens to be correct.

For an incredibly narrow definition of feminist generally preferred by the mouth breathing Rush Limbaugh crowd.

Unless you have some kind of study that shows a causative relationship here, the fact that its a fallacy pretty much means it has no bearing at all.

Looks like I hit a nerve. I've spoken with enough feminists, read enough feminist "literature," and seen enough of lil bitchiness's posts that my words ring true.

That seems like a very flawed basis to conduct judgment on. Pretty much, your only source is "trust me, I know what i'm doing". That's not a basis to debate based on if you're hoping to have an intelligent discussion.

Whether you like Zeal or not; the man has a point. A feminist's opinions (mainly the more extreme ones) often compromises, or at least heavily slants, her better judgement.

Are you just yelling "fallacy" to annoy him, or do you honestly think he's way off target? That he has no valid point whatsoever?

Now you just have to establish that all feminists are wacked out extremists.

Ay guey...I thought it was implied that I meant stereotypical extreme ones.

though you seem to have skipped right through the likes of Wendy McElroy or Emma Goldstein

so, ya, this:

So, what ever -ism or -ist to which you subscribe, automatically cancels out any other, huh?
