It was sort of an unspoken rule until JMS came along and he had Balder point it out. Being on Midgard doesn't diminish Thor or Loki however. In regards to Odin, I'd put him in the same boat as his sons on a daily basis as he possesses his own internal reserves.

I'd say even Thor is weaker on Midgard then he is in the other nine realms. Brunhilda ran him through the heart with a spear in Nidavellir (I think), and it didn't even slow him down.

Is that the scene?

Due to Gaea being his mother, entering the Midgardian dimension does not affect him like it does the other Asgardians:

However, a fair chunk of his power comes from Odin's side of the family tree, so I can understand the logic behind your reasoning. I wouldn't call it unreasonably to argue that Thor is more vulnerable to death/injury on the Earthly plane of existence.

Here's the scene with Balder I previously referenced:

Siege was really horrible for the Asgardians.

so wait...does juggernaut have two magical empowerments at the same time?

He has the power of the Serpent plus the powered down version of Cytorrak's enchantment.

Attuma got a ridiculous boost. The Grey Gargoyle utterly destroyed Iron Man in their battle. Chances are the Thing will stomp the Red Hulk as well.

Based on this, the Hulk, Absorbing Man and to a lesser extent the Juggernaut should all be scary powerful as the Worthy. Not really sure how a Mjolnir-less Thor is going to take on the Worthy Hulk in close combat on his own in #3 but I hope he holds his own just to see Carver's reaction. There's possibly a Thor vs. Thing/Hulk battle coming up in #5 as well. Thor either comes out looking really impressive or gets beat down hard in the next few months.

I'm sure Marvel will make Asgard look like shit before it's all over. It looks like it's going to be a slightly better Siege, but between Odin's douche-baggery and everything else, I'm just kinda waiting for the resolution before long. I hope that Fraction at least has Thor/Odin look like stars, but hell, I have a feeling Steve Rogers will play a bigger role ultimately than Thor.

He was upgraded to Namor levels before FI.

I want to know why Fraction is portraying Odin as such an ass. The dialogue seems off also...but for the most part its pretty good.
#1 cool
#2 meh
#3 pretty good.

Bump for breaker love.

How many more hammers are going to drop?

after what thing did to red hulk, thor would be lucky if he doesn't get oneshotted by hulk right now

I've gotta say I've been surprisingly loving this big event.

Spider-woman did just fine. 😈

On a scale of 1-10, what would you rate this so far? Is it worth reading?

Frankly its worth getting just for the art.

I'm just interested in how good the story is, though. I used to collect comics in the 90's for the art, but don't have much cash to spare.

3-4.

Spoiler:
In a cop-out ending, Franklin fixes Ben back to normal, Thor hits Hulk into space and then faints.

Also, the Serpent shatters Cap's shield like it's made of plastic.

The full spoilers from the site which has them:

Spoiler:
-Opens with Thor yelling "GRRAHHH--!!" I can see why everyone says fraction is such a good writer
-lol sin calls bucky a "mannish-boy." the hell does that even mean
-scene with tony whining to Odin that he isn't doing anything. tony doesn't seem nearly as drunk as he did in the actual IM book
-there's pages of text of tony saying some "look how cool I am" stuff, but it all boils down to the last line: "I need your workshop."
-I swear you can skip ALL the text in a scene and only read the last one or two lines and get the gist of what it was about. I don't feel the writing is strong enough to keep me interested at all.
-the art is good though!

-there's a scene where thing is about to hit thor (who is getting his ass kicked). thor is like "wait no ben don't" but like mid-sentence he changes his mind and has mjolnir shoot through ben's entire abdomen area. I think he was trying to kill him! what the hell.
-Franklin and Valeria go down to see the Thing, who is like half dead with a GIANT GAPING HOLE in his chest. he somehow manages to squeak out a last few words ending in "I deserved it."
-sin is missing a tooth, wtf. I mean she wasn't attractive to begin with but it looks weird. you think that when the hammer fixed her skin it would have just given her back her tooth. she looks like a hillbilly.
-The Serpent creates some giant castle on a floating island or something and is all young and smexy looking now. his hammer looks really cool, it's a hammer on one side and a sickle kinda thing on the other.
-Spider-Man: "Hey beardo-- suck it!" more quality writing from matt fraction wow give this guy some more eisners

-Cap: "Y'know what I loved playing when I was a kid? CATCH!" *throws shield*
-The Serpent CATCHES THE SHIELD AND BREAKS IN IN HALF. Add him to the small list of "people who have broken Cap's shield."
-Serpent says "I can do anything I want. Anything. I AM GOD."
-there is a giant explosion. It levels an entire two city blocks at the least, I wouldn't be surprised if it caused a crater a few miles wide.
-HOWEVER EVERYONE THERE WAKES UP AND IS FINE. Alright. Alright. Guy breaks Cap's shield but can't kill a helpless Captain America at point blank. S'cool.
-Spider-Man wakes up Cap, Cap makes fun of "hey beardo"

-cut back to Franklin, he's like "remember when I told mom I would never use my powers? I lied" and he revives Ben back to 100% and frees him from the hammer. WOW. Just let this kid join the Young Avengers or something and be done with it, cuz he's doing jack s*** on the FF
-cut to Thor fighting Hulk (wow forgot about that) and Thor hits Hulk so hard he flies into space, then burns up on reentry. He's shown heading for... Florida, I think? I dunno, the panel isn't pulled far back enough for me to see what continent it is, but it looks like the pan handle
-Thor faints
-some more talking with Cap and Spider-Man and Hawkeye, Cap concludes with
-"Look around you, Hawkeye... we're going to LOSE."
