Ridley Scott's Prometheus

I'd take AvP 1 over Alien: Resurrection, personally.

I thought AvP1 was in general just a decent movie, though.

AVP sucks balls the size of Mars... Both of them.

This looks like something that is really quite original and stunning without totally depending on the franchise elements... I can only hope...

And if Scott succeeds he can show George Lucas how to revisit a franchise that launched his career... I really really look forward to this.

Maybe it will also show James Cameron how to go back to his roots!
instead of the crappy titanic and Avatar.

Also this trailer gave me the feeling of AVP just because of the pictograms from the other societies on earth all drawing the same thing

as far as my thoughts on the subject of Prometheus.

Why is everybody saying it'll ruin the saga?.. im pretty sure we've already had AVP, AVP2, alien resurrection, and some would say alien 3.

Who is saying it'll ruin the saga? Yeah, if the AvPs and Resurrection didn't already do it, I don't think it's possible... lol. Prometheus should revitalize the franchise. I'm not watching the trailer, but Christ, I hope it doesn't look like AvP. I'm kind of surprised that he would want to return to his creation (Alien) after it has been tainted by others. Perhaps that's why he's taking it in a different direction (from what it sounds like)..

IMO he's not taking a different direction it's a direct prequel to Alien.

Yeah. Well at least a prequel is far removed from Resurrection and AvP. lol. In other words, not doing another sequel. He can still keep it close to his original intent.

I'm still hoping Avp gets rebooted.

I enjoyed the first one, but it could of been better. they should of just taken a few of the game stories or comic ones and gone with that.

Yeah bring in Machiko Noguchi would be great.

Prometheus viral reveals new wallpaper image

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=88259

The viral campaign for Ridley Scott's Prometheus continues to expand. It kicked off with the viral clip featuring Guy Pearce as Peter Weyland, which led fans to WeylandIndustries.com. Then, ProjectPrometheus.com was discovered. To gain access to the site, users figured out that you can add 'Eridu' to the URL, so ProjectPrometheus.com/Eridu, and then for the password you can use ' tell abu shahrain'. Doing so will get you to the wallpaper you can also check out below!

What does it all mean? According to Wikipedia, "Eridu is an ancient Sumerian city in what is now Tell Abu Shahrain, Dhi Qar Governorate, Iraq. Eridu was considered the earliest city in southern Mesopotamia, and is one of the oldest cities in the world. Located 12 km southwest of Ur, Eridu was the southernmost of a conglomeration of Sumerian cities that grew about temples, almost in sight of one another. In Sumerian mythology, Eridu was originally the home of Enki, who was considered to have founded the city, later known by the Akkadians as Ea. His temple was called E-Abzu, as Enki was believed to live in Abzu ("Deep Ocean"😉, an aquifer from which all life was believed to stem."

the **** is that thing in the bubble cage with the person.

Your mum dur

But I dunno

I think I might have seen some of the trailer for this by accident when I saw John Carter again last night. I wasn't sure, though, cuz it didn't really look like what I thought Prometheus would look like, but I could have sworn I saw Guy Pearce's name pop up and there were people in space suits. But I think it said it came out in April, and Prometheus doesn't come out until this summer, right? I don't know what else it could have been, though... any ideas?

(as soon as I realized it might be Prometheus I closed my eyes, heh)..

Guy Pearce has another space movie coming out soon called "Lockout." I think it is about him trying to free a girl from a prison that orbits the Earth. It looks average at best and no where near as good as Prometheus looks.

Ah... okay. Thanks. Yeah, that's it. It looks pretty cool. The saving the president's daughter thing is kind of lame, but the premise seems kind of cool otherwise.

There was a link on RT for another Prometheus trailer. Says it's terrifying. I ain't watching though...

The premise looks good, but the writing sounds blunt and cliched. "There's only one man who can get her out. Snow. He's the best there is, but he's a loose cannon." So obvious it sounds like a spoof of action movies in general.

Lol, yeah. I agree. I hope it's some decent, fun escapism, though..

Isn't that what escape from new York was about?

Yeah how original........re-using John Carpenter stories now.

I told my girlfriend how excited I am about Prometheus and had her watch the trailer for me.. while I watched her reaction. lol. She didn't seem particularly terrified. She seemed to think it didn't show much. Doesn't matter, I'm still not gonna watch it, but just curious what everyone else thinks... does it look like they're holding a lot back?

Just watch the damn trailer and STFU already, it doesn't spoil anything, it's vague fast segments back-to-back. The only sentiment you get from it, sh!ts going down.
