Did anyone here go see John Carter? There was nothing in the previews that made it seem remotely interesting to me. Just felt like a film that didn't know what it was trying to go for.
Wasn't anything special, but entertaining nonetheless, granted, I did not have high hopes, nor did I pay to see it.
Must we discuss John Carter in the Prometheus thread? Seriously?? I suppose I'll add my quick two-cents just because I anticipated it so: It changed too much from the source material (with stupid Sci-Fi shapeshifting cliches), Disney did it, and the characters weren't likeable or relatable, and the budget was actually too big. That's why it was disappointing to me. Woola was by far the best thing about the movie. If he had been the main character it would have been much better... heh..
But to transition back to Prometheus (something that is a bit more uncompromising and does not suck), I just found THIS: Nifty images of the xenomorph walking about..

Yeah, I thought it was cool, too (obviously). Um, I hadn't heard about it being a deleted scene, unfortunately. My guess is: it was never filmed/completed. But who knows. Probably will be in the sequel.

Btw, if their dna was identical to ours, why were they not human?
No offense, but that's kind of a silly question. They don't look human to you? It's not much different from different races amongst humans. Instead of more melanin, a different nose or being smaller with a flap of skin above the eyes they are large, pale, and apparently hairless. And haven't you heard that ape DNA is actually almost 99% the same as human?

Do you not realize how big of a difference 1% makes?

I'm not so sure the sequel will cover much of the origin's of the xenomorphs, I'd hope that it would though

I'd say they are more than humanoid. They have all the same features of humans, same musculature, bone structure, facial features, and likely a similar physiology. The musculature is actually exaggerated, so it's as if we're sort of a watered down version of them. It works.

😐 Um, apparently a lot. I mentioned the ape thing, didn't I? What are you getting at? I'm not a genetics expert, but it works to me, bro.

Well, (s)he/it must have been going somewhere. So (s)he/it must play a role later one.

Yeah, that's actually what the link I posted said:
"Xenomorph Alien Queen Walking"
Not sure how they know that, but yeah...

I addressed that in this thread, already.
Without going back through this thread to find my lengthy post about it (ain't no way I'm typing that all up, again), consider that there is far more variance in Canis familiaris than there is between an Engineer and a human.

Um, are you serious? Apes have a different shaped skull and entire skeleton.. (not to mention a less-developed limbic system/brain). The only differences we're talking about with Engineers and humans are size and some superficial decorations (kind of like a different race).
