Runner ( no gem) vs Superman

Too much to read, but the essentials are that Superman wins; because he's at least as fast and strong, durable enough to tank everything Runner has shown and with a mental resistence that allows him to easily overcome the, quite frankly, irrelevant emotion control ability. Or perhaps Superman beats him down with a smile on his face. 🙂
Not as fast and probably physically stronger. But not enough to compensate for speed.

Fail.

We are debating in KMC. Irrelevant to comics or not, this is the venue of the debate, live it with.

Check and mate.
No, with the point you TRIED to make but failed at.

i see that you understood my points. Your dodges make that clear. Regardless, I'm not going to be flame baited by your intuitive responses anymore.

there's a lot of bytchassness in these runner threads

Lol. Where did I "dodge"? Pls indicate. If anything, your copout "but editor X said Y" argument shows your unwillingness to engage in an actual debate using actual showings/feats/evidence.

More flame baiting. I think I can do this one though.

I pointed out that based on comics, Silver Surfer doesn't have combat super speed. You respond with a flame bait by saying KMC --a place that talks about comics-- is a different medium(...) than actual comics. You bait some more by saying KMC has different rules than in comics(...) and talk about Surfer fighting Supes H2H.

facepalm

Your next dodge was when after you said I didn't make a point then in your following sentences confirm that I did, then disagree with it for so and so reasons. I pointed that out to you, and you dodge with you "Nah-uh you only attempted to make a point."

Nope. Not what you said. Pls reread your own comments.

No need to press me on dealing with Surfer's combat speed, as after thirty seconds or so of solemn contemplation I saw the light. Tom Brevoort, who frequently argues comics with other creators and editors around the Marvel offices, called the best editor in comics by Mark Waid himself, as well as knowing Marvel like Waid knows DC, is nothing but a dirty lying no-good bastard dumb face. So are all those other heinous comic book readers that spout the same unfounded lies as Brevoort. So too the numerous creators and editors that have sired The Silver Surfer books over the years, and worst of them all... Marvel itself for publishing TOHOTMU! I owe a great deal of debt to you for this enlightenment! Many thanks.

Wherein you simply implied that the comments of an editor = LAW and that the TOHOTMU is accurate and should be taken as FACT.

Both w/c is not the case in these debating forums.

If you read Surfer comics and actually went to the respect thread instead of basing your argument on the opinions of an editor, you'd know that .

Here lemme direct you:

http://www.killermovies.com/forums/f98/t459252.html

Please see the entries under "Speed" and "Bullrush".

Those are instances where the Surfer actually used his speed during combat.

Evidence > You.

You HAVE to know that combat speed isn't ONLY about moving your hands and feet fast, right?

You tried to make a point but failed at it. Thus, you didn't make a point? What's so hard to understand about that?

Seriously, your whole argument is based on editor comments and TOHOTMU entires. It's pretty weak as there are NUMEROUS on-panel feats wherein we can clearly see that the Surfer HAS indeed shown combat speeds/superhuman reflexes in comics in the form of speedblitzing entire battle fleets before they can respond, bltizing characters with established combat speed/reflexes, demonstrating nanosecond reaction time, tracking and following objects traveling at light speed, etc.

The rest of your "argument" is about raging, bashing and being downright unpleasant on the forums.

Now if you wanna debate, let's debate. But first grow up and show a little respect to other posters in these forums. Just because we disagree with you, doesn't make us your enemies.

People that work in the comic business, TOHOTMU, and decades worth of comics that show a single legitamte instance of combat super speed >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Marvel internet warriors that that sign up on forums and grasp at straws. And it will remain that way as KMC is irrelevant as to what goes in comics.

You are flame baiting, as only a ________ with the _______ _______ of a ________ would struggle with this concept.

That is exactly what it is, which is what the books and the people who write and edit them state. You are trolling because you are in denial.

I don't know why it is so hard for you to understand that you disagreed with a point I made, then back pedaled in your need to troll and get the last word in. Don't worry I'm sure nobody will notice.

So you're just sticking to your "but the editor says so" and "TOHOTMU says so" argument and that's it? That's all you got to debate with?

LOL, thanks. If that's all you're going to keep saying, then I think we're done here.

If you're willing to ignore every single legitimate instance of the Surfer demonstrating use of speed in combat, then that's up to you. I guess one cannot convince another person who just downright cover their ears and goes "la la la" when presented with counterproof.

LOL. So any other instance of any other character using their superhuman speed in combat doesn't fall under this category just because their hands and feet aren't moving fast? I guess you must have a different classification for it....?

Can't you see how silly that is?

What, you call it "fast fighting move" or something?

Or are you just gonna cover your ears and ________ the ________ of one editor, base your ENTIRE mindset on one of his passing opinions, roll into a ball and continue singing the "la la" song til you're blue?

Whaaat? Your point isn't really hard to disagree with. It requires that we ignore evidence that's been presented in front of our very eyes.

And now you're going "oooohhhh you backpedalled!! oooo yeahh"? I don't even know what relevance this has to our debate but I guess when one has skewed interpretations of what constitutes proof, one has skewed interpretations of one's argument as well. /shrug

It's funny cuz you think you making an argument when all you did was repeat one argument (w/c is pretty damned weak from the get-go), beat your chest, act ALLLL agressive as you accuse, flame and bash. Read your arguments, that's the MEAT of it.

You have wised up in this post so it's not a bid deal at the moment.

"Given that what we're doing here is comics, and fantasy, and fiction, I don't tend to worry about stuff like this all that much. Sure, on paper a character like teh Flash should render all conflicts obsolete in principle, but that just isn't interesting. It's not dramatic. There's also a difference between being able to travel vast distances through outer space and using superhuman rapidity within what amounts to melee combat."

He mentions the need to use downplay super-speed to make stories readable and then mentions the difference between MELEE combat speed and traveling speed.

None of w/c prove your point.

The funny thing is, the question was:

"What is your opinion on characters with super speed who don't employ it during battle? Do you think it hurts the story when a character e.g. the Sentry or Gladiator can travel at speeds faster then light and still get tagged by characters like Wolverine?"

Sentry AND Gladiator BOTH have PROVEN combat speed feats. :-/

Not only did he fail at answering the question properly, he was ALSO ONLY alluding to the difference between MELEE COMBAT SPEED and space traveling speed ONLY.

Of course, Surfer doesn't have several MELEE combat speed showings. Punching isn't his primary mode of attack. Doesn't mean he doesn't have speed in combat. :-/

Reading interpretation bias ftl.

Thor MUST have not been demonstrating combat speed here. I mean I'm sure that it takes only HUMAN speed/reflexes and HUMAN limb movement speeds to catch a tank shell. Because, good ol' Tom Brevoot is never wrong! Or maybe the tank shell musta been moving reallll slow or something...! YAYYY!

You gonna do your "La La song" now?

BTW, the interviews you posted was about Thor, not the Surfer w/c really has no relevance to what we're debating.... :-/

You completely missed the point. Completely.

I do however, like how you wrote a million words out of denial. Oh, and its tempting to destroy your Thor argument but I'll pass. I've seen nothing but denial and desperation from you.

I just now remembered you are the little kid I discussed BRB vs Surfer with a long time ago. 😆
