Arab Uprising

the cities in the east, like Benghazi, had unofficial registrations to join the resistance army. Like, even independantly of the army that was defecting to the resistance, they were organizing a formal army.

I suppose, there might be a difference between "civil war" and "armed resistance" though, and at this poing, I'm not sure the resistance is organized enough to be considered a formal army with large scale tactics/organization. But like, to agree with both KK and Bic, its becomming/is

Wouldn't a civil war be more about splitting the country to form a new one, and armed resistance be like the uprising right now?

Um, it is split. Areas outside of Tripoli are completely under rebel control. In fact Qaddafi's area is the minority. I would certainly call that civil war.

I'm relatively sure that the definition of a "civil war" is a war between a country's civilians. or own people.

Wiktionary defines civil war as: "A war fought between members of a single nation or similar political entity."

Sounds like Libya. Guess the terms are synonymous.

I wonder if differences in belief come into it, as in some areas the Sunni and Shiite ideals seem to be a key conflict reason.

But, you have to admit that one side has nothing worth fighting for, right?

Ah **** me, these Arabs need to stop, the Oil Machine is using the 'unrest/revolts/wars' as an excuse to raise prices, which I'm paying very close to $5.00 a gallon now. If Saudi Arabia starts in, shit will jump to $6.00 overnight.

HA!

He's just pissed because the gas prices are cutting into his sex toys budget.

On a more serious note...yeah, I wish I had a vehicle that did not require any outside energy sources...something....that charged on it's own or created fuel on it's own. Like a solar-panel powered hydrolysis machine or something.

What?

If oil prices go prohibitively high, it will probably lead to increased interest in alternative energy.

Yeah, just like in Europe.
