If you celebrate Lent what are you giving up for it?

I am like last year giving up any sweets and junk food.I made it last year and did not mess up.I hope this year I don't either and lose alot of weight at the same time.
So what is everyone given up?

Lent is so pagan it makes me sick. it comes from the sun worshiping ishtar (or easter) religion. it's in memory of the death of the sun god's son tamuz. They would have huge feasts(carnival or mardi gra) before giving up something for forty days in mourning. Easter is an evil word that was put in the bible 1000 years after it was written.

I disargee but I see what you are saying.

I don't celebrate Lent, sorry.

I gave up my tolerance to cold. Seriously, weather needs to get its **** together.

WTF is Lent? is that the stuff that always collects in your pocket?

That is good but why not make it longer?

If I practiced lent I'd give up Religion.

And I thought I was posing only an Escheresque linqua-philosophical conundrum.

No you can choose not to give anything up that is up to the person.

People should give things up like gossip and lying instead of things like chocolate and cake.

People could give up on that as well it is up to that person.

a penny from heaven

Which means what?
