You know, you Lentians, you get breaks on Saturdays. Because you're doing this because it's inspired by Jesus' fasting and prayers from the forty days before his cruxifiction. Since Jesus was a Jew, he celebrated Sabbath, which is Saturday. He had to eat on Sabbath because it's part of the ceremony. So good news for you, Quiero Mota. 😄

I've been aware of that clause for a long time, but I still don't give in. It just seems to undermine the whole purpose. When it comes to Lent (or anything else that requires commitment) I always go cavalier. I take it seriously--no loopholes, no exceptions.

Historically speaking, the Jewish had a different day of the week on which they worshipped Yahweh [a name of God] - the Seventh day of the week, the day on which the creation story tells God rested from creating the world.
For the Jewish faith, that is a Saturday. Even some Christians still feel that Sunday is not the day for worshiping god - they're called seventh-day adventists.
