Jesse Jackson Jr. sounds like a satire of Keynesianism.

Jesse Jackson Jr. sounds like a satire of Keynesianism.

It sounds like he's a strawman crudely constructed from the mud and plaster of libertarian talking points.

Its sad the substance of his points is lost because of a lame soundbite

I think we should make it a right for everyone to have an iPhone. Imagine what will happen to Apple's stocks!

indeed, that was clearly the real content of his statement

Um, sounds like everything he's saying is quite reasonable. Not entirely dissimilar to how Finland made broadband a legal right.

So, assuming you're being sarcastic, why do you want it to be illegal for some people to have an iPhone?

I'm not sure that changing the constitution to guarantee, as a right, education/housing/etc is the best way to go about things, but government does sort of exist as the only social structure in most nation-states equipped to deal with issues like education and homelessness. It is certainly not inappropriate for him to bring up the responsibility the state may have to the people it is supposed to represent...

Is it possible for black politicians to not be moronically naive?

There's a difference between making it "mandatory" for every student, just having the right to purchase one or not, and being illegal.

The first two are different degrees of legal. The last one is illegal.

Also, I think this offering stuff is just legalized communism. I prefer something more free and less taxed, obviously.

I would LOVE to transfer 1/2 of our defense budget to our education system, though. 🙂

Legalized communism? I think that's a pretty strange way of putting it. There's nothing "illegal" about communism, it is simply not the system our government employs. If we started passing communist programs it could mostly be fit in within the current legal framework.

It would be decried of course. America ain't no nation of Reds.

Well, that's my bad as I didn't think I needed to explain that. Check this out: in America, "communism" is a bad word and most people try to avoid it like the plague. It is looked down up in America soooooooo much that some 'mericans think it is illegal.

Legally forcing communism on people would be "legalized communism."

It's a term you hear in conservatard land, quite a bit.

Making it legal communism. 😉

We already have forms communism is America...just some people choose to ignore it. This includes what I think is Marxism-Leninism and Stalinism.

Then who will keep us safe? You!? Hahahahahahaaahhhahahahahahahahhaaaahahahahahhahahaahahahaaahhaaaa. Ha.

Obama is proposing military cuts in his alternative to the republican budget plan. The first sensible thing i've heard from him in forever.

If you'd like to know the answer to this question, please PM me.

Until then, I will not address it in the open forum unless you create a thread just for this.

You publically asserted your belief on this matter. I have told you in the past that I am not interested in being your pal or having PM conversations with you, where your behavior and attitudes towards me can proceed un-moderated. If you need a thread to follow through on your public statements, then there is no need to bring them into this thread if you're of the opinion that it is off-topic or might derail the thread, in the first place.

Sounds a bit daft this one.
