I've noticed that nowadays, people seem to have a default response to communists; "Communism is good on paper, but it would never work given human nature". Lots of other ideologies have this reasoning as well: anarchism, laissez faire, objectivism, direct democracy, etc... Well, ignoring whether or not that's true, I thought there was an interesting secondary question to ask:

If we assume that every political ideology's vision was able to succeed without problems, which vision for the future makes the best Utopia?

The perfect future government is apparently Sweden.

Today, Sweden is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democracy of government and a highly developed economy. In 2010, it ranked fourth in the world in The Economist's Democracy Index and ninth in the United Nations' Human Development Index. In 2010, Sweden had the fastest economic growth and highest innovation in the European Union, while the World Economic Forum ranked Sweden as the second most competitive country in the world. Sweden is recognized as an industrial and technological leader in several fields

They're doing something right.

Norway even better; Sweden got hit badly by the financial crash but Norway didn't suffer at all.

Yeah but there's no lions in Norway, so f*ck them.

As I understand it though Sweden's facing problems with an aging population, which might lead to slowed economic growth and more burden on the welfare system.

Isn't like every Western population facing an aging problem? Low-birth rates and an elderly baby boomer population.

Authoritarian theocracy.

One with less people, less greed, more harmony with nature (especially our "higher" natures) as well as with technology, more long-term compassionate vision, and our killer instincts are neatly tucked away but ready to access should we ever encounter Klingons.

For me Ian Banks Culture would be perfect as a future.

Ha I never bother using the distinction he places on his name between Sci Fi and non Sci Fi books. I read the Wasp Factory first.. The culture would probably see me as merely expressing my individuality as a fashion. :-)

They wouldn't disapprove of it either.

Generally speaking, countries with high IQs tend to have less babies. Also, they have more debt thanks for college, so yay for that!

I read Cracked more than I read/watch the news. Maybe Foxnews could hook the younger generation if they had more **** jokes.

I think "stranger in a strange land" has a good vision for the future.
