Consider Caedus's performance against Luke, another master of the shatterpoint charism. If using it first were all that required, would not the duel have ended differently?Simply being able to detect shatterpoints doesn't give one the means to end a duel. Windu's duel against Palpatine was rare in that it established absolute parity between the duelists. There wasn't even a slight advantage on either side until Mace applied the technique.
Mace and Caedus would have to detect the shatterpoint and then be able to exploit it. Knowing your enemy's weakness and being able to do something about it are two different things, so I'm not buying the idea that this fight will be decided by some shatterpoint quickdraw.
exactly, i completely agree. I think Caedus wins by virtue of being better with his lightsaber.
My entire point about shatterpoint was based on the fact that it would be no advantage for Mace. ( i was anticipating the "he beat sidious" arguments for Mace, when the novel makes it clear that he only did that because he had the shatterpoint advantage)
