France is what's stopping me getting in to Canada. So now I'm going to blame you. mmm

Well, it's not my fault, but if it was up to me you still wouldn't go to Canada 😈

Seriously, I'm doing you a favor, have you seen Mungi?

great news regarding tim

as for liefeld, well if he stays and gets the book done on time then perhaps hawk and dove can last

Eh, I'm kind of annoyed they appear to be rebooting Tim to some extent but keeping Damian, considering Tim's development over the years has been good with no reason to apply a retcon. Although I wonder how much of a reboot Tim will actually get (same with Cass and Steph who haven't been mentioned by DC yet), seeing as how Batman Inc. and Leviathan will include them all when it continues. I guess that especially applies to Tim seeing as he was made the leader of Batman's black ops unit last issue.

And I've just thought, it was probably a editorial decision to change Babs back to Batgirl, seeing as I can't imagine Gail Simone actively supporting that move seeing as how much she likes Babs as Oracle...

And also realised that I said change Babs back to Oracle when I meant Batgirl in my last post...

Well, I think Robin's costume looks sweet on that cover.

Yeah the costume looks pretty cool, it's just the whole "has to step out from behind his computer" thing which makes me worry they might make him having never been Robin...

i know it does appear tim is being retconned, so i hope it isn't a heavy one..

I'm all for a Hawk and Dove series, but Leifeild?! Come on. Legion books look solid and TT looks ok.

Sounds like France, all right.

Ditto on Simone. During the "Death of Oracle" arc for BoP, she had an interview with Comic Vine, I believe, in which she's pretty outspoken about how "curing" Babs would feel like a slap to the face of a lot of disabled fans who really resonate with the character. I can't think of many other DC characters with physical handicaps outside of Oracle which have achieved her kind of status and importance. Niles Caulder comes to mind, but Doom Patrol is obscure by most standards. Freddy Freeman/Captain Marvel, Jr. is another, but he doesn't have the impact on the DCU that Babs does.

Her recent statement backing the book makes me think it is an editorial thing and she's just asking people to support it out of admiration for Babs as a character. I think she likes Babs as Batgirl - and really, who didn't? - but yeah, Oracle was such an important stage in character development for her.

In a universe with cloning, and time travel, where robotic prosthetic are a dime a dozen and no one stays dead for more than month, Babs being paralyzed never really made any sense in the first place. It's the same thing I think every time I see Helion, why doesn't have robotic arms? Misty Knight had a robotic arm decades ago and she doesn't have the funding or connections the X-Men do. This isn't the real world, and in context of the universe it never made sense for someone with the connections that Barbra Gordon had to be paralyzed for years. Is it a "slap in the face of the disabled"? The sciences in the DC Universe are easily a century ahead of the real world... do disabled people believe that a hundred years from now we still won't be able to repair a damaged nervous system? When the reader is suspending their disbelief for everything else something ground like Batgirl being paralyzed just seems stupid.

Huh, unless we advance really hard in genetics we won't be able to fix nervous systems in the next 200 years.

Meh. We suspend disbelief for every other element of society, I don't see why we would insist that all disabled characters are cured, especially when it adds to their story.

That being said, if they're planning to retell the Joker/Batman story and reboot the core elements of that dynamic, the need to retell Batgirl's transition to Oracle may be critical, so hopefully that's the route that this is going? Maybe Gail agreed because this time around, she'd get to play the writer in Babs' transition.

I'm kind of totally sold on the Wonder Girl reboot 😛

She's looking not too unlike Circe and the red lasso looks awesome.

Nice to see Starfire news already. She could get some well deserved attention on team of smaller scale.

(also I'm digging the shoulder pads and apparent lack of pants)

We are making new discovers and advances every year in the field, saying we are even a 100 years away from being able to repair a damaged spin or nervous system is extremely pessimistic, and that is just from a purely genetics stand point and completely ruling out engineering and robotics.

Well, the human body is not a machine and we will never be able to repair all kinds of brain damage without genetics. By the same token, we won't stop growing old by sheer engineering.

Also consider that despite all the advanced technology running around the DC universe, their clonning sucks balls, it's safe to say they don't advance as regular society does, so comparisions about the future are not accurate.

They don't seem to have much problem cloning Doomsdays. 😎
