DCU gets remade - all books are #1s, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee on Justice League, more

Started by Cogito367 pages

I don't even know who's on the team right now, so I can't really say who I'd like to add.

I'd pick a lineup like:
Xanadu
Zatanna
Frankenstein
Deadman

And then maybe 1-2 more. I don't even know if I'd want Constantine as a full member. I might rather see him as a common shady ally with questionable motives/allegiances.

The only change I'd make is replacing Black Orchid with Swamp Thing. Aside from that, you are quite possibly looking at the most badass team ever.

Yeah, Amethyst would be good but as she was when her book was cancelled, she wouldn't be that useful.

^ As of the last issue in her solo series, Amy became powerful enough to own/banish Eclipso after gaining the full power of Amethyst... So I think she'd be tremendously useful. 😉

Was the the only feat she did with the full power of Amethyst?

Yeah. Mind you, she only gained the full power of Amethyst like 5 pages before the final issue ended, so it's not like she had any time to gain a bunch of feats.

What I meant was, she didn't know jack shit about anything and was literally learning on the fly.

So she'd need a lot of development to be able to understand the crazy magic shit going on, even if she were powerful enough to fight.

Oh with that much I agree.

Although Amethyst's naivety is what I've always liked about her as a character.

JL 3000 Preview. Looks kind of good.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=19379

-JL was good. A bit of Owlman's plot against Ultraman was revealed.
-JLA needs to pick up the pace. It's been a bit stale the past few months.
-JL 3000 wasn't good at all.
-Constantine was excellent. John is truly a magical beast.
-Arkham War was also great. DCnU Bane is steamrolling through everyone in Gotham.
-Superman/WW was meh.

Fuuuuck, this sounds interesting.

Spoiler:

There will be three new Justice League titles launching in April. The already announced JUSTICE LEAGUE CANADA will replace JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA thru August as a result of events in FOREVER EVIL. The others will spin out of FOREVER EVIL as well:*

OUTLAW JUSTICE. In this modern day western adventure series, superheroes have been outlawed in post-FOREVER EVIL America and the most wanted man in the country is Dick Grayson. He will lead an underground band of heroes operating behind enemy lines, hunted by both sides.*

YOUNG JUSTICE will focus on the lives and loves of the next generation of superheroes. This series will include THE NEW 52 debut of heroes like: Aqualad and Miss Martian.*

All of these series will be part of the build up to September 2014’s big event:

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED, a 52-week long Justice League series, featuring heroes and villains from across time and space, led by Booster Gold and a popular returning hero not seen since THE NEW 52 started.*

Also debuting in April, THE ALL NEW NIGHTWING #30. Who is the mysterious new guardian of Gotham City? Not even Batman knows HER secrets.

She isn’t debuting in that issue really, but looking at things, #30 really IS the most likely issue for her to take over the Nightwing book, and this look into the future issue of Batman seems like an idea that just came up very recently cause Caupllo needed more time to finish pencils on the final issue of Year Zero and this was posted over a month ago.

Later in that same thread he also says.

RED HOOD #30 will also launch a new direction and creative team.*
And while that person seems to have been an issue off (which also could have just been plans changing slightly) Red Hood is indeed getting a new creative team post Forever Evil as was announced today.

Coupled with the fact that Jeff Lemire made and then deleted a Tweet teasing a new book called Justice League _N___D or something like that (really the only two possibilties for the blanks were United and Unlimited)*

SPOILERS END

Gotta hand it to Johns... He isn't afraid to totally phuck with continuity as he sees fit-- most writers don't have the balls to do that. Although Johns pretty much owns DC at this point, so it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, I guess. /shrug

Anyway, that stuff does sound interesting. Really makes me wonder wtf is going to happen in Forever Evil.

The Justice League that Booster is going to lead sounds the most interesting.

Will Dick done a new identity? Frankly the one thing I dislike about Nightwing is that he still seems like a subject to Batman while he should become entirely something else.

Animal Man and Dark Knight ending with issues #29. Lemire stated that Buddy will be in his Justice League book, so yay for bringing Animal Man back to the Justice League at least.

Shame about both series'. They were quite good.

Spoiler:
Really don't want Red Hood to change. That's one of my go to books at this point, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Really underrated series, IMO.

Really like this guys top 10 DC comics of 2013. #1 spot is well deserved. 😎

http://comicobsessed.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-top-ten-best-dc-comics-of-2013.html

Surprised he threw Shazam on the list considering it wasn't a stand-alone series like the others, but rather, just a back-story. And I can't say that I agree with Flash-- not that it's bad, but there are other series'(JLD and Swamp Thing, to name a few) that were definitely better.

The rest of the list is pretty much spot-on, though. His blurb on Green Arrow hit the nail on the head, imo:

No other series this year has shown such improvement with a new creative team. Hell, I haven't seen no other series in recent years that has shown such improvement.

Again, I have been rambling enough about this series here: What makes Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino's run on Green Arrow the best the character ever had? and I'm sure you're also tired to see so many links on this list but it deserves all the appreciation it gets.

Worldbuilding, intriguing stories, reinvention of myths, creation of myths and that beautiful, beautiful art. Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino not only exceeded my expectations on the title but they completely destroyed them by giving the series and character a new identity that takes inspiration from the different eras while also making it stand on its own. They have introduced concepts that I didn't even know that I wanted and now I frankly couldn't live without them.

I can recommend this book enough, start with issue 17 and you will be ready to read the greatest title that DC is currently releasing. Start with any issue and you will be ready to love it.

Previews are out. Things that caught my eye are: Yes! Kaizien is back! We need a good WS villain to mess things up in the DCnU. Lobdell also confirmed Helspont will also be back in 2014. ✅

The conclusion of Forever Evil. Deathstroke against Owlman?

Sweet Phantom Stranger cover. Trigun cameo?

Suicide Squad has been awesome under Kindt. OMAC destroyed?

Finally going to jump on board again with Batgirl. Andrew Bennett will have an appearance here.

NEW Pandora look looks awesome.

Nick Necro is back in Constantine.

Outsiders Part 4
