Yeah, which is kind of crazy.
Normally I'd take an IGN review with a grain of salt. IGN is pretty deep in the pockets of most major developers/publishers, and they very rarely if ever give AAA games anything less than an 8.5 or so.
That said, I don't think Halo's nearly as AAA as it used to be to warrant them being as forgiving, so a 9.8 strikes me as a good sign.

What's amazing about this is that Forward Unto Dawn aims to satisfy a new audience while at the same time, satisfy hardcore fans and it didn't have to be altered too much in any way to harm the franchise and kept it exactly as it is: Halo. What Hollywood and it's directors had failed to do in years with their live action adaptations of videogames, these people who made a mini-series got it right in a matter of weeks. While I will say it was disappointing that fight between Master Chief and that one Hunter happened off-screen, the part where Chief shoves a grenade into the other Hunter with style (and hopefully hinting we can in fact execute Hunters in the game) makes up for it. This episode kicked ass and manly tears have been shed today.

Its about damn time the expanded universe from the books gets spotlight in other, more accessible media. I will not lie...I had goosebumps when I saw Kelly and Fred remove their helmets. Bungie and microsoft wasted a lot of the potential the Halo universe had. It took CoD dethroning Halo for Microsoft and 343 to start pushing Halo with everything they had.
The production values were off the charts. Every single CGI looked amazing and the action sequences were done in a very satisfactory manner. I remember hoping we got to see the worms in the Hunter ,stuff people don't know about unless they read books/instruction booklets, and then Chief stomps one.
My only complain is that it was only 5 episodes. However if thats what kept everything so tight and good then I won't even complain about it.

I'm still jizzing all over FUD. The music playing during Lasky's sprint is out of this world epic.
I must say...it was well executed.
I wanted MORE! We need more eps. I wouldn't mind if this became a once a month 30 minute episode. Improve production value a bit and release 12 eps a year. I'd be happy.

The music made me want to cry like Caboose if he ever found Sheila again and as the Halo theme kicked in right after Chief blew up that Hunter, everything transcended into godhood. To even say it was perfectly executed would be an understatement.
lol! I can see your erection from here!

A part of me died when I learned it was only 5 episodes.
I didn't mind. It was meant to be a badass introductin to hype people up for Halo 4 anyway. Five or less episodes was something I expected and they didn't disappoint (except for maybe the first couple epsiodes but those were meant to help us better understand Lasky so it's passable).
