women do have different rights exclusive to them. like for example, as far as what you and -pr- are talking about, they have reproductive rights.
the decision of being and staying with child and then giving birth to the baby ultimately lies with the mother, no matter what the man whom impregnated her thinks or says.

I suspect they are stringing you along a tad there, DS0. Apparently dadude's original post was a joke anyway.

I sort of agree.
Men don't get pregnant and menstruate.
This is going to seem very off from my usual "equal rights" posts but...
I think women should get the last 3 months off, for their pregnancy, at at least 70% pay. Then for three months after giving birth, they should get another 3 months at 100% pay.
If they need another 6 months, they should get it at 70% pay.
That's a total of one year, if any of you were counting.
In addition, I think women should get 3-5 days off every 28 days for menstruation (or when appropriate). It should be paid at 50%, of course.
That should not be a right, it should be voluntary from the organizations the women work for. The problem: what if women are dishonest and don't take off of work for menstruation? I'm just too damn nice, I guess. I don't know what to do about that. Maybe an on site OB/Gyn on site to check her out of the work place? I really like the work places that have on site doctors. Really cool. Unrelated: This one place I worked had an onsite massage therapist (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and you only had to pay $10 for 30 minutes (the company subsidized the people to be there). It was AWESOME.
Anyway. Yeah...am I being too nice? How would I counter balance those offerings so it didn't seem unfair? I'm sure a true feminist would object to such asymmetric offerings.
