The Walking Dead

And here I thought it'd be natural to focus on Carl as Rick's successor.

Love Carl's character-building over the years, but he just doesn't have the same following as Negan, and has had precious few solo arcs in the comics.

If they're looking to sell issues, Negan is definitely the better move.

Sure. But redeemed Negan will feel weird, unless Kirkman has thought about it a great deal and knows what he's doing.

If he tries to transform Negan into Rick v2.0, I'll legit be done with the series.

One thing for sure ---

Negan * did * undergo a change of some sort. We can only hope it won't be as bad as Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis Mindset. That guy is a shadow of his former self.

I hope Rick's prosthetic arm becomes Negan's new bat. 👆

Most important thing for me is to see Sebastian suffer.

And when I say "suffer" I mean Michonne vs. Governor type of suffering, if not worse.

YES! 👆

And either Carl or Negan need to be the one who delivers justice.

Ideally, Negan.

Though I wouldn't mind Carl doing that. But it'd either require 1) him cracking and going batshit crazy (which theoretically might happen, remember the cliffhanger?) 2) Sebastian escaping from his prison, Carl warned him what would happen then.

Spoiler, i suppose:

Well, damn.

I can’t believe this is ending so abruptly.

Yeah.
Solicits were out for the next couple of months, and, Kirkman was being very…grammatically correct…in his comments. I wonder how all this played out behind the scenes…

So yeah, it's over. Lol, Kirkman is the greatest troll who ever lived.

Kirkman's post-issue letter to the fans:

"P.S. Negan lives"

Middle Aged Man Carl looks less like Lori and more like Negan and Rick mashed together. Lol 👆

Can't believe he did it to us.

Is this really the end?

🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

After the prison arc, I got the impression that Kirkman hadn't thought the story through that far. To me, it felt like he'd told the story he wanted to tell, but it became so popular that he just kept writing more without a spectacular ending in mind. I had lost interest just before Negan bashed Glenn's head in. I expected him to end the story soon after he became either too busy or bored with it, or the comic's popularity died down.

I feel that the finale was rushed and cheap.

Yeah... giant-size or not... it was exactly what you said.
