Superman heat vision

I remember something about Superman heating up the Earth with his heat vision..? Did that really happen that way? Did he had to do it for a while? Was it canon?

also, I assume he was closer to the sun (outside of earth's atmosphere) hence he would be getting a unique powerup in that instance

He's used it on Darkseid's shield, he's used high level HV on Darkseid while weakened, he's used it on Blackrock. There's a list.

Yes, it's canon. It was a wide beam during that problem with the sun-eater.

There's also the instance where he was blinding people on the moon (except for Plastic Man, who had shades on) whilst he was on Earth, and it was stated that he wasn't going full out.

There are tons of HV feats that are impressive. Darkseid's shield, the world engine, melting Major Force, blocking the Omega, piercing Zod's armour, knocking down Despro, knocking down J'onn; the list goes on.
