When comics were wow oh my good gollies. I was on the seat of my chair over the collision between Galactus and the Sphinx. However the ease at which Galactus defeated him makes me believe that even with 2 Ka Stones that he would relive the defeat. It was a long time ago so my memory may likely be flawed, but Galactus in my opinion didn't have to work hard to pretty much crush the Sphinx back in the day. Then again Galactus hasn't been written like that in years.By the way, just looking at those scans, still has me scratching my head, and asking myself why did they do away with Nova's ongoing, and keep a sub par comic going like Captain America... sorry people no offense meant, but Nova was just a more entertaining book imo. I hope they bring him back.
Yeah. I think that the Sphinx did about as well as anyone at his level of power could do against Galactus. I'd love to see a rematch one day as the Sphinx has a great deal of control over his powers nowadays. Not that he'd win, but it'd be far more interesting.
As for Nova, I'm concerned for a couple of reasons.
1) They've been asked several times at various cons yet they refuse to confirm rather or not It's Rich, or any other concrete details for that matter. All that we keep hearing is that "Nova is going to be the quintessential character for 2012' s events" and that "this may be the single most important Nova story that they've ever told". Bigger then Annihilation? Hmmm.
2) This looks like a complete revamp of the character. If so, it will break 36 years of rock solid continuity. One if the few characters that has remained relatively unchanged in terms of cannon. Not a single retcon or anything. If this Nova is indeed Richard Rider repackaged as kid Nova then this will be a first. As a fan I'd prefer that it wasn't Rich at all tbh. At least, not if that's the road they're going to take.
