I never even heard about Pit 'til Brawl. I think he was gonna be in Melee but got replaced by Jigglypuff of all things because Pokémon has more fans obviously so more sales. I understand now why the developer wants to cram so much Kid Icarus content as he can because he wants it to be more recognized because seriously, people. Jigglypuff.

From what I understand, Pit was an old character from the NES console they brought to Brawl as a special treat to retro gamers and he was so well received they decided to make him a new game, trading cards and put up next to Mario, Link and Samus like we actually think he compares to them.

Neither have I honestly (barring maybe the original on the NES back in the day), but you don't really have to have played it to see how much presence it has in this game.

Jigglypuff was in the first game on the 64, so I don't think her returning in Melee happened at Pit's expense. Hell, I heard they was wanting to add Pit to Smash 64, but they couldn't properly animate his wings at the time for a playable character or something. Regardless, Jiggly's been around as long as she has because she's one of the easier characters to program, and Pokemon having around as much characters as Mario was eventually expected with or without her, so to say she screwed Pit or someone over a slot is kinda moot. Wouldn't mind her being cut though at this point...

Pretty much I guess, though Sakurai did the new KI himself which is why it has as much content as it does in this game, so Palutena, etc. would've happened even without the good fan reception. On that note, the amount of special moves she has through customization compared to everyone else is obscene. 😂 Plus with the range of some of them, she'll be rather OP I'm sure, but whether she'll be the next Meta Knight/broken tier is the question. mmm

For the record though, if KI got at least one more playable like Medusa or someone unique I'd be totally fine with it, but if we just get Dark Pit as a Lucina esque clone then the salt will be real.

I'm pretty sure Dark Pit is an alternate Costume. Lucina even was at first. But they realised that they had different names and that wouldn't work.

I knew of Pit before Brawl, but it was because of the Captain N cartoon. I never played his games beforehand and his inclusion in Brawl inspired me to. Just like Captain Falcon and Ness' inclusion in Smash 64 inspired me to try out their games.

And one of the reasons they went with Jigglypuff in the first place was because she shared the same body type as Kirby. Which made it easier to reuse some of his animations and his general model(round, rubbery, floaty)

Sega's under contract with Nintendo (possibly now a second-party developer, IIRC), so all their material is going through them right now

If Nintendo bought Bayonetta than it may appear in SuperSmashBros. But Bayonetta still isn't a renowned Nintendo exclusive title. Give it a few years under Nintendo rule and it will pop up.

They bought Bayonetta in hopes it will increase Wii U sales. I imagine they'll throw her in eventually to advertise Bayonetta 2 more.

There is no real evidence to support this as real.

There's a rumor the game will also have Bowser Jr., Dark Pit (no surprise there), Ness, Wario and...the dog from Duck Hunt apparently. Well he has been loathed by many for generations so it's only right to add him to finally wipe that smug look off his face.

No no. Bowser Jr? Why would they do that? There is no benefit from doing that. Dark Pit is going to be an alternate costume like. Ness is possible, and there is a slim chance that maybe Shulk is included too. The rest no. Just no. Maybe Wario but he wasn't that popular in Brawl and their trying to cut back on characters.
