Sorry to say that BGB will do bugger all if you are using a rifle, which is the only way you can cover a long-range approach. Even with Eagle Eye, I have to put range restrictions on pistols.
But yes you do, else it would be a bit rubbish- and besides, Rianna would be very annoyed if I made the track up only visible to NPCs.
