Hey Don/Judges,
Leo and I have been discussing something via PM that would be great to get some input on.
So God Cable has Deadpool's healing factor. He gains it around Cable/Deadpool #5 (at the very end I think, though it might be the next issue), and that has a lot to do with his leap of power that allows him to fight Surfer head to head. I guess the HF fights off the TO virus, but with the feats that Cable can perform after getting the HF, you'd think it was doing more than just fighting off a virus. Regardless, them's the facts.
I knew this part way through my previous match but didn't really stress the point, gambling that it might be better not to play all my cards in the first match (which would have been a really stupid move had I lost...).
Anyways, I see it as a valid part of the character I drafted. I told Don that the Cable I was drafting was the one that fought Surfer, and I think it's fair to say that that's what 'God Cable' generally refers to. Leo doesn't disagree, but he also has the equally valid concern that it could appear kinda shifty to judges or Don/Jake. I don't want to make it look like I've got an illegal amp here, and I'd rather clear any air to be cleared regarding this issue right now.
Leo, if I paraphrased inaccurately, obviously feel free to correct me. This is the score as I see it.
Pretty much. I had no worries going against cable, but the use of pools healing factor was a large part of why he was able to do what he did. I brought it up to smurph first because I didn't want it to look like I was baiting him then crying foul in the match. The bood could be seen as an amp, so...... I guess well wait for input. Sorry. Thought smurph and I might be able to iron it out and get on with the match without airing it all like this.
I'm of the mind that since Existere drafted "God Cable" (ie. the Cable who fought Surfer), that it automatically entails everything he had going for him at the time. Even with Wade's healing factor, I don't think it would bump Nate up and out of his tier nor prevent him from being incapacitated, KO'd, or "killed" for a definite tourney win.
Does that sound fair to everyone else?

So what are we offering input on specifically? Whether or not the HF is in play? Seems like you two are in agreement that it should be. I'm not going to disagree. Beastly as it is, Wade's HF doesn't trump the mid-herald level you're at. There's still plenty of room for an effective "kill."
My only issue is a simple one and it's one that may open some worm cans--the feats he accomplished in that period after he gained the healing factor were far far beyond those that he was able to accomplish before he had it. Both were god cable though but the HF let him do....a lot more. It was certainly a significant amp if that's what you were wondering digi, and it played an important part in the arc. The question is are we allowing it anyway and simply stating this is just a special allowance? I told smurph that I would battle him with the ss version and I wasn't going to raise it beyond pms. I do think it is an outside amp though, so the question becomes is it acceptable anyway? I'm fine with it, and ready to start, but.....allowing an amp for one and not others as I said to smurph, could cause some......awkwardness in the future. Hence the discussion.

This raised something else I wondered about---can we then choose era or arc specific characters for this thing? That would change a lot and add a lot of choice to the drafting of characters for this thing. If we say arc specific, there would never be this issue again and any amps would be implied. If that makes sense.....
I don't really see it as an outside amp. Brief as it may have been, it was part of his character. Smurph just drafted a very particular incarnation of Cable.
More realistically, dropping him from the SS-fighting version probably ends the match before it starts, so for practical reasons I think it should slide.
We used to do a comic appearance minimum for this type of thing. I think it was 10 comics or more. I'm not sure a rule or precedent has been set for this belt-series though. Just because this is awkward, I think we should allow it for the duration of Smurph's reign, then make the precedent, even if it's to ban incarnation-specific drafts in the future. Smurph's Cable would just get grandfathered in if it were banned.

That way deadpool HF is a none issue.. 😖hifty:
sorry if i put any kind of damper on the procedings. i rediscovered this stuff about cable while researching for my first post. i signed on thinking i was going against the ss version of cable so i'm absolutely fine with facing the intended version. 👆
'pologies to smurph if i put a crimp in anything.
Though I do think it raises the issue of minimum appearances. Assuming Smurph's reign gets grandfathered in regardless of what's decided, somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-20 comics should be reasonable, no? Mostly I just decided 5 seconds ago that I never want to judge a match with WBH in it. So, however many issues he had plus one?
Will have some time off coming up soon so I'll be able to address some key points. As for smurph's character he is representing Cable who fought SS. This was made clear by him via pm to me before the first title match even started. I do agree with Digi that for future matches characters have to have at least 10 + appearances.
