rewatching the fight, the strength gap between hulk and thor in the movie is pretty widethor's winding mjolnir smash only pushed hulk a few feet, whereas a casual side punch sent thor FLYING away
also, the jet saved thor as hulk was completely manhandling thor by then
Yeah, I give Hulk the solid majority against Thor. I mean he had him in a physical confrontation and owned Loki. Puny god! 😂
good grief the Thor lobby is a liiitle bit extreme. it was a "non-cannon" movie, that doesn't affect the comics (and therefore Thor's standing therein), why on earth go to such contorted extremes to try and diminish Hulk's glaring superiority in power?
anyway, on a related subject, watched The Incredible Hulk, a couple of nights ago, it's a lot better film that I remember it being. Norton and Tyler are far more suited to their parts than Bana and Connolly were. Though it did bring up one thing, Hulk in TIH definitely was controlled to an extent (or as Norton's Banner puts it "aimed"😉 by Banner. He recognised Betty and he knew not to hurt anyone seriously (aside from Blonsky, of course).
given that the Hulk in The Avengers is a continuation of that Hulk, the same should hold true and it seems it does (the fight with BW, the fall, holding back against Thor...).
further, Hulk seemed to amp only when people where in danger from Abomination, rather than just by being angry (as when he was attacked by tanks and the military).

Why was hulk holding back? Loki had a hand in his transformation and he was moments away from killing black widow. Thor stopped physicallt holding back after he got Mjolnir. He fought like an idiot but he wasnt really restraining himself. PHYSICALLY. obviously he wasn't going to drop a tornado on the helicarrier then split him in two like he did the destroyer.

You think Hulk took the time to think through that the pilot would be able to eject and save himself... when Hulk lept from the helicarrier and tore the shit out of his plane?Or do you think the Hulk was like "bastard shot me, imma smash the plane out of the sky!"
What he did to Thor and the fighter jet was a far cry from the level of brutality he showed against the Chitauri.

The Hulk doesn't kill even when attacked and is super pissed. Banner retains some form of humanity when Hulked out, on the surface he seems like a raging monster but deep down, Banner, the hero is still very much present. This was touched upon several times in the film. Quite frankly if you are trying to argue against this very core element of the Hulk/Banner you shouldn't even be posting in this thread. What he did to Thor and the fighter jet was a far cry from the level of brutality he showed against the Chitauri.
Even so the fact that Hulk was the one attacking shows he wasn't holding back as much as Thor was.

Taking all powers into consideration I would agree, what the helicarrier brawl did show us is there is a very sizeable gap in strength/durability between the two. The problem is we don't know how much MCU Thor's weather manipulation would effect Hulk. The only time we ever really saw Hulk vulnerable was when he was pinned down by the Chitauri but he recovered pretty swiftly.
