If recent showings are all that matter and Namor either curbs Luke or Ben or displays a showing or fight ultimately superior to what he showed against either of them in the recent future, how does it not become the new norm to judge Namor on by your own stance?

You have to be pretty literal minded to interpret "current version" stips to mean "Only latest feat applies."
It's just one showing. That doesn't negate every feat or showing that came before it.

Because you can't wash away a humiliation like this. Beaten by THING in Namor's own element! Then taking Cage by surprise and failing to KO him while Cage draws blood and puts up a good fight vs Namor underwater.

Tutinax is Ghaur's right hand man. So there's no shame in losing to that guy. Neither was Thor getting beat up by Taurus anything to be ashamed of, the Zodiac Cartel are amped the the Zodiac Key (that thing has owned an abstract).

In any case, every character has their share of embarassing low end feats, some of which can be classified as outright jobbing or PIS. It certainly doesn't invalidate everything about the character that came before it.

Yeah, Namor got him in the water, Luke threw a punch and blood came out. And while Cage has had a push above his standard Class 30 lately(slugged it out with Juggernaut during T-Bolts with help from Thor), he's still not in that strength class where he does more than hold his own. And no, he didn't get ko'd. Hiroim surprised him with an uppercut and knocked him like 5-6 blocks away, he got right back up and huffed it back to the fight.

I already stated this to him if a person only read his respect thread and see his good showing you might no know it but the man has much worst showings than this Namor is a lot of things consistent is not one of them.

that line of thinking is, frankly, ridiculous zop. and on the forum is likely against the rules. if everyone took your view, and used only the most recent showings of any characters vs any characters there would be no point in looking at the history of a character. and what is there that says it wasn't actually a low showing for namor, but a HIGH showing for ben?
and a recent showing does NOT mean that is the way 'marvel' views a character at all--that's a poor and inaccurate generalization--it means one creative team MAY see things that way THIS time. or maybe it was meant to simply give ben some long overdo respect? and as has been mentioned ben has OFTEN been a great match for namor. hell, ben has gone 1on1 vs the destroyer and done awesome! he's had classic fights with hulk. had the best of all showings vs champion in that famous boxing issue. he was said to be stronger than wonderman and handled a mind controlled simon as well. hardly the greatest shock that ben did well against namor. ben is sooo underrated on this forum.
anyway, disregarding the history of characters is a very poor way to form an opinion, and, as i said, i'd guess it goes against forum rules.
historically speaking, namor would throttle ares. and ben would beat him too.
