I'm amazed. Though what's he like in the Earth 2 book? Is he still the whole "elder statesman" thing?

Supposedly, Alan will be the biggest hero in Earth-2.

I've only really read one Jsa run, and a solomon grundy mini featuring him so I'm not that familiar with Alan. Is he really considered Iconic? I mean I get he's the first lantern but I always thought Hal was the iconic lantern character.

He would be considered iconic in terms of in-universe for DC Comics, but he's not mainstream.

Alan was more or less the "Superman" of his generation in terms of the JSA's history.

Alan's a character whose awesome is very un-linked to his sexuality or sexual orientation.

Hopefully it's just handled with some common sense and good taste.

I just don't like the idea of changing a character's established sexual orientation, reminds me too much of the plague of yaoi fangirls who write fanfiction where straight characters are all gay for no reason.

Well, is it Alan Scott from Earth 2 that is gay or "our" universe?

That makes a world of difference (literally)

Also, people do find out later in life that they're gay. It does happen. I don't know if I can so easily dismiss it anyway.

I really hope Robinson is kidding when he says that the biggest reason for making Alan gay was that he already had a gay son.
