It was made in the same breath as saying that Obsidian isn't gonna be around though, so it sounded to me like "This is the only interesting part of the character, let's just tack it on to Alan".

I'm pretty sure they haven't been introduced yet but since Blackest Night still seems to be cannon I would be hard pressed to say Jade doesn't exist.....

with the whole jade coming back from the dead and fighting kyle.....

I'm not too crazy about DC trying to look so progressive, it comes off forced, especially since they're taking an established character and trying to change his sexual orientation. However, since this is a completely fresh reboot and universe and they're completely reintroducing the character, I really don't see what the big deal is. Hopefully Jade and Obsidian are reintroduced in some capacity, but that's my only real feasible qualm. A lot of people have really shown their homophobia across the interwebs about this though.

Not necessarily, they could be adopted, the result of Guy having a previous hetero relationship which happens sometimes, or reintroduced in an entirely new way.
