Palpatine butchered 3 Jedi masters, whom had reputations of being among the orders greatest swordsmen, in seconds. His lightning is powerful enough to reduce a giant sith spawn to ash. As an apprentice, him and Plagueis took out several hundred Kursid warriors with nothing but force pikes (no force use)- while evading arrows, blows from axes and other weapons.
I say papa Palpatine wins.

Mace, Yoda, and Kenobi all seem to agree that they were among the best. You don't usually get reputations unless you live up to them. Hell, Fisto was able to out-duel General "I can strike 20 times a second" Grievous. There is also a source Gideon threw out which refers to them as celebrated swordsmen.

Sidious can move his whole body so fast that he imagines himself looking like a phantom to security cams. I would say that sounds about right, seeing how he can leap from one end of a room to another and kill 2 jedi masters before they can even react. The SW databank says he killed them with "blinding speed". When has Bane ever topped that kind of speed in an actual duel?
Yes, Banes feat with the rain is beyond impressive, but it's not the same as utilizing it in an actual duel.

In Episode I Journal: Darth Maul, it is said that Sidious could “move faster than the eye could follow,” and wielded a lightsaber with such skill and precision that “one flinch, one involuntary twitch of a muscle” would have killed Maul.
That's how fast Sidious is, even before TPM.

I did say Bane wins it all, but I didn't say I'd be easy. I think it would still be very difficult and a very even fight.
Sidious was indeed not in his best form but it doesn't necessarily prove that Bane is above him in lightsaber combat.
After all he fought Windu and Yoda on par. Does it mean that both Windu and Yoda aren't that good that they can't easily defeat Sidious, who was out of practice for very long time? Don't think so.
Not that powerful as in book Sidious had to fend off against Windu at the same time and in film Fisto didn't block a single strike before dying.
But good idea about Ventress vs Bane thread. The fact that she fought both Kenobi and Anakin simultaneously on several occasions and even Force choked them makes her worthy.
