Photon? You mean the black chick who went by "Captain Marvel" for a while? I wasn't aware she ever went FTL. All I remember from her appearances I have were her saying AT lightspeed, not faster. And I think I know who Lightmaster is, but am unfamiliar with him, so I'll have to take your word for it.

Yeah, but it happens in comics, so we just accept it. On the other hand, something like light being faster than light goes too far for the suspension of disbelief, unless there's context people haven't mentioned yet?

solid mass cannot accelerate to light speed, photons on the other hand is always at light speed, never slower. This means photons at rest are Light speed so photons in movement(photons accelerating) are FTL.
