Hmm... I thought there were still lots of places it hadn't opened yet, but according to IMDB the only place it hasn't opened yet is Japan (Feb. 16, 2013).
And yeah, so far it's only made $32,759,615 worldwide with a $50 million budget.

I remember somewhere him discussing using the dark judges for the sequels
like to how they're going to pull that one off going from a action movie to one involving the supernatural.

I can see how you'd say it's not exactly original or groundbreaking, but I don't think that was really the intention. The slo-mo visuals and just general good 'ol action/violence made it FAR from awful (as you so callously put it). Besides, some of the mind-reading stuff struck me as somewhat original in the context of the film. I thought that was a very nice touch as far as the writing goes.
