Bad comparison and poor wording.

Not actually a bad comparison.

The argument that we need weapons to protect the country on the one hand and that welfare makes people dependent on the government on the other hand is not an uncommon conservative position.

I have never heard that conservative argument. That's still a bad comparison.

Why do you hate apples and oranges?

...I don't know how you've never heard that argument, because they make it constantly.

I live in arguably the most conservative state in the union (all counties voted red last election http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/ok.htm): still have not heard it.

If I were to take a guess, I'd say it is partially "libtard strawman" mixed with something real a conservtard might have said. I would have definitely heard that argument if it were actually real... because there are plenty of conservatards in OK.

I'm perfectly fine with a Red Delicious to Granny Smith comparison. Even a Moro to Navel comparison.

But a Navel to Granny Smith comparison? uhuh

Which could just mean you're a poor observer.

Indeed. That's a pretty standard mainstream conservative line, and Tea Partiers toe it even harder.

That goes with the general lack of being in touch with the 99.9%, no?

Sweden has a population of ten million, a per mil would thus translate to ten thousand people.

No worries, I'm humble, and I'll pardon your ignorance this one time.

That response doesn't make any sense. At all. It's actually a complete nonsequitur.

Are you the new debbiejo?

I can definitely see why he and his little brother don't get along. I wouldn't want to claim he was related to me either with the heights of d-baggery he has ascended to.

Ok, that kind of post strays over to being a pure personal attack with no connection to the thread, so try not to do that in future, thanks.

Understood. I'll stick to veiled condescension and implied insults as per Astner rather than being direct with my retorts from now on.

...Oklahoma ia far from being the most conservative state in the US. It may be a red state, but that isn't enough. Try looking at the policies of some other states, like Arizona, Texas, Mississippi, Missouri, etc. Look at the bills they try passing there. OK is not even close.

You want to talk about suppression, why don't we talk about the new poll taxes and ridiculous requirements to vote put in place by a number of states? The incidence of voter fraud is less than .001%, yet the laws being enacted will disenfranchise thousands in contested states. Romney supporters went so far as to publicly praise the new law in PA say that it hands Romney the election there: "Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done."
[1]

There's something wrong when WWII vets and depression-era survivors who have voted in every election since they were of age being told that their proof of identity isn't enough to allow them to do something that they've been doing almost their entire lives.

I'll take positive 'socialism' that gives everyone healthier lives over twisted fascism/elitism any day.

No, it isn't.

I'm not going to explain why, as the moderator prohibited further derailing. So I'm just going to advice you to reread it.

My job keeps me away from the computer and it provides me with health care. Not some dumb corrupt government official paid by this dictator. I work hard for my money and health care so don't accuse me of disappearing.

bloo bloo bloo

why not take the precious little time you do have in front of a computer to actually participate in the discussion you started, rather than these short bursts of nonsense that you do, then run away when people try to engage with you.

for instance: are you a Christian?

Whatever your excuses, you still haven't responded to any of the intelligent destruction of your weak statements.
