Allow me to explain then.

The radiation from a red sun is no different from the radiation of a yellow sun. One is just hotter than the other. Solar power is also a weak source of power.

The original explaination of supes powers was that krypton had heavier gravity, when dc finally realized the flaws in that logic they updated it to "under a yellow sun" which is also funny since our sun is actually white.

It isn't weak with how his body uses it.

They make about as much sense as each other, tbh.

Not really, the sun is a real object with alot of science data on it.

The force is made up, a mysterious power.

The sun light origin was given during a time when not much was known about the sun or radiation

Im not talking about how he uses it in comics.

I'm saying that DC should have used the new 52 to update his source of power. The yellow sun thing is dated/dumb as well as him still wearing glasses to disguise himself in the age of HD imagery.

How Superman gets his power and how the force works are both fictional constructs in fictional universes. Superman having a nuclear reactor organ doesn't make any sense, but it's comics.

You might not like it, but Superman's powers have been pretty much stated to fly in the face of science on more than one occasion.

what would you have wanted? superman doesn't just soak up the sun in some blanket way. there's an entire process of energy conversion that occurs within his body.

and no, his disguise is more than just a pair of glasses.

Never heard of superman having a nuclear reactor organ, feel free to explain. The sunlight thing was DCs attempt to insert science and logic into superman so its open to scrutiny.

You're behaving like such a rigid fanboy, you're not even listening to what i'm stating. I'm not contesting his powers. I saying DC should update his power source like they did when his powers were based on heavy gravity.

I have the hardest time convinceing only comic geeks of this but i promise you if you became world famous acting shy with apair of glasses won't hide you from your friends, co-worker, and family on a daily basis.

I was going to reply to you and dig out the scan of his reactor organ, but then you had to go and act like such a judgmental ass, so never mind.

Judgmetnal eh? Why cause i don't agree with you? You're one to talk......

Both of you quibbling over nonsense again huh?

Problem is fine gentlemen sound like a married couple. one of you makes a point, the other disagrees.....the other makes a point and the other doesn't listen. yep sounds like a case of agreeing to disagree.

Despite PR going out of his domain and calling someone a name, i'll reciprocate the argument.

Jedi90 is saying why don't they update the origin of Supermans powers....that question was not answered.

PR was saying that Superman has a nuclear reactor organ..well i never heard that one but hey it's comics, anything is possible.

Maybe Supermans limitations will never be settled and if they were, no fanboy would be happy, especially if someone else were stronger...like the HULK who obviously is.

I realize this is your lame attempt at being a smartass but it is nonsenical that radiation from a yellow sun would empower superman while radiation from a red sun would totally nulify him.

Let me correct you here, because ONCE MORE, You are wrong, and let me go out of my way, because English is not my native language, but is "nonsensical" not "nonsenical" and is "smart ass" not "smartass" is TWO words, you can say smart-ass or smart/ass but not "smartass"

OK, So, Is nonsensical to you, because of course you are talking out of ignorance, you are making another argument of ignorance.

Superman gets his powers out of the radiation wavelength the star emits, based on the star's color this radiation wavelength increases or decreases. So "the color" has something to do with the radiation wavelength the star is producing and Superman feeds out of this radiation wavelength, which in turn his physiology that works like a reactor, increases. Allowing him to do the things He does. Like photosynthesis in algae.

Um, let me see.

And this class is for free, just because I like you a lot.

"If we can create power from the largest free energy source in our Universe (it has been estimated we could power an entire city for a year with just 8 minutes of the sun’s blaring rays) and a little organic matter, what is to keep us from powering ourselves with the light that is reflected in our personal, tiny sun – the pineal gland.

After all, this fascinating gland has rods and cones, and actually processes light, much like our own eyes.

There are references to the ‘illumination’ that occurs once the pineal gland has been opened, and while this is a metaphor with a more esoteric meaning, why not a physical one too?

The conifer tree that produces the pinecone, is one of the oldest genera on the planet. It has existed three times longer than all flowering plant species.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but even fifth grade science class said that photosynthesis was required for flowers to bloom, and leaves to stay green.

If plants can get their power directly from the sun, why can't we?

The pineal gland has been called the seat of the soul, the thousand-petaled lotus, the epicenter of enlightenment, the eye of Horus, and just, the pinecone, but perhaps our true illumination, spiritually, also means we can start burning our own wattage, through the activation of that tiny gland in the center of the brain.

There are, after all, myths and stories about yogis with super natural powers living in the Himalayas that could go for weeks on end without food or water.

The legends say that they existed on light. In ancient yogic texts these abilities are nothing to laugh at.

The siddhis are supernatural powers said to be realized by those who were awakened or illumined.

They even have specific names, like Anima, Mahima, Garima, Prapti, etc. in the Sanskrit language.

We already have pedestrian ways to generate our own power, through kinetic energy. Peddle-a-kilowatt bicycles are all over the place now. Is processing light energy so far-fetched?"

That sounds a lot like "The Force" or getting power from the sun, like..... lets say... Superman?

Oh and BOTH sources of power are fiction, but one is based on science, the other on magic, religion or whatever Which one is more credible?

😆 😆 😆

OUCH!!! BTW 😄

wtf?!, LOL, is he arguing about logic behind a comic book character? LOL

A hungry Galactus after feeding on a single planet can destroy a galaxy. How does that work? A exploding star doesn't have enough juice to do that. Superman has these powers and solar energy gives him the juice needed to use these powers. Simple comic book logic.

you're partially correct. a superhero comic can't be totally grounded in logic otherwise it won't be enjoyable. it does however have to operate under some base logic.

if logic need never apply then why do editors update superheroes origins?

superman originally got his powers due to the heavier gravity on krypton, why did they need to change it if logic need not apply?

people know alot more about stars now than they did back then is my point.

don't get your point here because i also don't use capitalization or proper punctuation. its mostly on purpose because i'm not writing professionally and i'm in a forum with the likes of you.
it's a typo, get over it.

i usually find guys like you who have exasperated calling people trolls resort to being a grammar nazi in some sort of sad attempt at getting a one upper. even when their reply is full of grammatical errors.

by that logic supes and everyone else on krypton should have powers as well. the color of the sun has to do with how hot it is, not with radiation wavelength.

you're babbling here and totally missing the point. so it's moot to address. go read up on solar energy so you can understand why it's not widely used.

my point is i felt that DC should have used the new 52 to update:
1. the source of supes powers
2. a better reason for kryptonians not being able to escape their pending doom
3. a better disguise

who says i don't read superman? it really pains you to hear criticism. fanboyism is strong with you.

make sure you give it to them in english.

Concerning his powers, the thing to realize is that Superman is a member from a fictional race of aliens. That alone should throw out any disbelief concerning the source of his powers. Solar energy is potent on its own, but Kryptonians are able to synthesize it far greater than any man made machine can.

As far as his identity goes, it's actually way more complex than people give it credit for. It's not just "glasses" that makes up his disguise. He purposefully slumps, has a different hair cut, wears clothes several sizes too big to hide his muscles, and even speaks in a different pitch/tone as Clark Kent than he does as Superman. In fact, I'd say it's his social and psychological differences as Clark that are more effective than just how he physically presents himself.

Yep.

There's tons of power to draw upon from the Sun. Just because we can't do it doesn't matter. That's what makes it fiction/science fiction.

Does Star Trek need a reboot because as far as we know Light Speed would kill any human? No of course not.

As for the Glasses thing, if your nerdy friend looked like someone famous, would you just go and assume he was him? I doubt it. Especially not when their personality, mannerisms and image they project are all completely different.

Plus, it's surprisingly easy to feel invisible when you go to a job every day and don't draw attention to yourself.

He did that real well in Superman #13. 😛
