Yes, it's real. He was weakened too.Go here.
That got nitpicked to death too. Even though the writer confirmed it too.

I just dont get it, how can there be room for nitpicking a solid feat with writer statements backing it?
Here's a question:
According to Wiki the edge of the observable universe is 46 billion light years away from Earth. Surfer was able to travel 500,000 light years in a few seconds. How long would it take Surfer to replicate Superman's feat and travel 46 billion light years at a speed of 166,666.66 light years/sec?
Assuming a straight line and no black holes. 😈

Superman has traveled to the center of the universe in mere moments. How fast is that?

Because the artwork and narration support it. There's also something called reading the scan and using common sense.
I'm comparing it to DCNU Superman's traveling feat.

I calculated roughly 76 hours for Surfer to travel 46 billion light years at 166,666.66 light years/sec.
Conversely, if we assume he was travelling for Superman's 60 days, that's a speed of 8873.46 light years/sec.
For a distance of 500,000 light years, that would take him 56.35 seconds. If he travelled at Supes' speed.

That's 3 seconds then? So you just add 25 ish hours for every second you figure. Pretty keen stuff.
This would mean Surfer was traveling 18.8 times faster than DCNU Superman.

You speculate on the time Surfer needed for the 500000 lj and the size of the Universe or better said the way Supes took.
The Universe has a diameter of 93 billion light years but it might as well be infinite, depends on how you define the boarders. To add to this Superman was most likely weakened by the first black hole.
All in all, no SS is not faster ^^.
