Yeah, I'm not even close to finishing this game (at least the main story)
One thing I miss is just better story missions. Some of them would of been kick ass side ops....and I'm getting a huge feeling of deja vu while doing them. I feel like I have infiltrated a thousand camps.
But overall, it's a fantastic game. I'm glad they went with the open world because it really changes things up and it's done very well. Even though infiltrating camps is done a lot, it's still ****ing fun as shit. And I do love how objectives are not set in stone. One mission I was task to follow the interpreter and I did, and died, and I did and died and I really had no idea what the **** was going on.
I basically went crazy, threw in a stun grenade, interrogated him (while the dues back home went batshit crazy) and snuck into a room, found out they were hiding this guy in the middle of the area and completed the mission.
This happens a lot and it's great for it. I'm pretty structured on how I take out a camp and I think that sometimes hurts the enjoyment of the game because you can literally do anything. It's one of the most emergent games out there. Hell, I was going to take out two dudes beside each other, I tranq one and the guy goes !!!, he started to move toward me and somehow, the dog tripped him up and lost his balance and then I went behind and grabbed him. That was cool.
This game is a reviewers game. Reviewers get bogged down by a ton of cookie cutter games and when a game like this comes out, where any shit is possible, they blow their lid. Game of the year? Maybe but I still think I liked Witcher 3 better.
And yes, I wish the story missions had more story. It's kind of downer that the prologue was ****ing immersive and amazing so when main missions don't follow that...it;s kind of a bummer.
Originally posted by Adam GrimesIts not that it becomes lackluster, but that the pace of story is non existent and inconsistent and after mission 35(I think)it sort of makes no sense and becomes confusing how you trigger the cutscenes. Its hard to explain.
So.. the story becomes lackluster towards the end? Sounds like a huge turn off.
Having said that this is still a triple A game that everyone should play.
Gotta agree on epic stuff happening at random. Quiet has given me some of the coolest movie-like moments from any game.
Been playing this game for the past few days. About on mission 15 right now.
Very good game, but very very repetitive. You are literally doing the same exact thing, every single mission, often in the same places. Still manages to be fun because of the emergent gameplay and the variety of ways you can tackle a mission, still would have liked a bit more variety in the mission objectives themselves.
Also surprised at how sparse the story is, it's very un-Metal Gear in that respect. Too early to tell if I'll like it, but I hear the story is one of the weaker parts of the game, which is disappointing to hear. And keep hearing how the game feels rushed. I can't imagine how that's possible since Kojima presumably has been working on it since he finished Peacewalker, maybe even before.
But yeah, it's fun and addicting. Shamefully bad auto save system, which sadly seems to be pretty common these days. Such a simple thing so often overlooked.
