Just how many Jedi are there?

Well, being a spouse might be the problem. How can a Jedi be a good spouse when he/she's out there, becoming one with the Force and defending peace an justice in the galaxy. Doesn't sound like a 9-5 job to me.

Certianly a very multi-cultural construct, the Jedi are. Samurai are the most clear comparison- but I tell you right now, you wouldn't want hordes of Samurai acting as protectors of the Republic!
