What I said before a few pages ago about this season being the Dark Knight Rises of the series, oh lawdy...

Spoiler:
The whole retirement thing. Albeit, compared to Nolan's Batman, Ollie's retirement just kinda came out of nowhere with not much (if anything) building up to it beforehand. And still with the Olicity shipping...

With how I felt after the episode prior, the finale was a little better than I thought I guess. Still kinda underwhelming compared to the previous finales though IMO, and of course was mixed on things like

Spoiler:
Merlyn becoming the next Ra's, but something interesting could definitely come out of that admittedly
.

Before the finale I figured it would help determine whether I should even bother with the next season, but now.. I'm even more unsure if I want to continue keeping up with the show after this. Not sure if that's good or bad.

Good show tonight.

Well

Spoiler:
Ras "death" was lame. The Olicity shipping was lame. There wasn't enough Katana. Though Merlin being the new Ras could be pretty interesting and Thea looks pretty cool in the Arsenal/Red Arrow threads IMO. Also Ray finally thought of trying to shrink the suit so he could be the Atom instead of (not)Blue Beetle

Overall this finale was better than I expected but still pretty weak.

Ray should bang Oliver's sister.

Oh yeah,
Spoiler:
Ra's' death
... I would've said that about it too, but he kinda overstayed his welcome by this point.

One question I have is

Spoiler:
how in the holy hell does Ray survive that explosion, considering he is going to be part of a spinoff show?

Well, the obvious answer is
Spoiler:
that the nano-particles worked but not in the way Ray wanted, instead triggering the explosion and reducing him down to atom size, thus saving him from the blast of the explosion.
Something which would move his story along and give him a symbolic rebirth too.

I quite liked the finale, the happy note it ended on and the fact that Ra's story was tied up neatly.

One thing I'm not appreciating is the continued depiction of Ray Palmer as being dim/slower than Felicity, he's a multi-billionaire tech genius, supposedly. At least present him as being the equal of Felicity, rather than always two thoughts behind whenever they're racing for a solution to something.

I'm beginning to like Laurel too, which is significant as I couldn't stand the character at all, before the back end of this season.

Arrow is a much better series than Flash, mostly because it doesn't revolve around an annoying man-child and an even worse cardboard love interest who annoys the **** out of everybody and has no reason for existing other than delivering twaddle with as blank an expression as possible. Honestly, what were they thinking with this characterisation and choice of actress?

Been there done that.

So.... was this the series finale?

It felt like it tbh.

Well, I did see some short preview thing with one of the writers talking about where they were gonna go with the next season without Oliver. I kinda see it as a sort of spinoff season made to keep the show running, but should be interesting to see how the 4th season will address what
Spoiler:
Malcolm will do as the next Ra's
and all that.

While that other show will have Ollie, Sara as White Canary, Hawkgirl, etc., Arrow will now just focus on the remaining heroes of Starling I'm guessing.

^ lol. doubt it.

this retirement will likely only last throughout the time the show is hiatus. We might get one or two episodes w/o Oliver in costume, but i seriously doubt this will be a case where he stays retired through several episodes.

Hopefully there's a timeskip and things have gotten so "nutty" that it forces Oliver to develop trick arrows and such so this show can be more like a comic.

Hm, maybe...

It's just when I google'd Arrow season 4 earlier, the actor for Diggle apparently confirmed that his character would have some kind of vigilante mask/costume for the next season, giving me the impression Arrow would become a Diggle-centric show or something while Ollie would be focused on being in that team on Legends of Tomorrow, unless Ollie's gonna be on that other team while still focusing on defending Starling City at the same time... But again, Starling has a number of other heroes now. I say let them look useful by defending the city while Ollie can do what he does best elsewhere.

Eh, will be fine with either way though.

And I guess it can be presumed that Malcolm as the new Ra's revived Sara in the pit to get Nyssa off his back?

i'll call it right now, could be wrong though.. early on next season ARROW becomes GREEN ARROW

btw.. stephen amell most likely told a true lie

Anyone else feel a little sad that Katrina Law can't act? Apart from Willa Holland, none of the women on the show have any range at all.

Katrina's channelling Keanu, for her one-tone performance, Laurel ... She's improved immensely, now she's just mildly bad and Felicity, she's good with the comic nerd gawkiness but that's about it.

Willa Holland can't act either. She over-enunciates and talks through her teeth as if her jaw is wired shut. But hey, she's not as bad as Felicity, so that's something.

Honestly, none of the females in either Flash or Arrow are people I would classify as "great" actresses.
