It was a combination of that and his staged death after being apprehended. I've just chalked up people believing Roy was the Arrow as comic book stupidity. Also Thea has been rather tolerable this season, at least in comparison to Laurel and Felicity.
Ah, okay, thanks.
I stopped paying attention to Laurel a long time ago. Felicity's been alright IMO. A huge improvement over the whiny mess we got for most of the previous season. And she has an admittedly cool code-name now.
And this episode just confirmed how ridiculous and PIS'y Oliver stomping Malcolm was. Oliver should not be having trouble with a military/special forces trained mook if he can stomp League of Assassins trained dudes. Meh.

Thinking about it though, the son arrangement is not a very smart plan, even for the mother's side of the arrangement, at least not in the long run. Unless she was raising a complete idiot, at some point the kid was going to reach a stage where he's going to want to know more about who and where his father is, and then the strange man, with seemingly no other ties to his mother, yet who came to visit and spend time with him since he was a little kid, is going to be an obvious suspect.
Yeah, it's called PIS.
Considering the overwhelming suspect for the identity of who is in that grave is now William, I'm thinking they didn't care how they dealt with this plot-line, as long as it introduced drama and tension.
